Siebe Leendertse | 4 comments The first publishing date states: (first published January 1st 1975), while the first publishing date is actually April 15, 2003. Dennis Lehane was 10 years old in 1975, please fix this!

lethe | 16359 comments Over the years different people have changed the original pub date to 1975 and others changed it back to 2003. Maybe there is an edition that has 1975 as first published date.

Have changed it back to 2003 and will leave a librarian note.

Arenda | 26448 comments There were 2 audio editions with publishing date of 1975, source Amazon.
Worldcat had 2007 for both, corrected these editions to 2007.

If there is an edition with an incorrect pub date, most major edits of the work will trigger a recalculation back to that wrong date. It will therefore appear librarians have been setting it to that date.

lethe | 16359 comments Thanks for clarifying. But how can you tell which edition has the wrong date, or did Arenda mean that those audio editions had a "current" pub date of 1975 instead of an original pub date?

Is that also the case with books that have a Persian date?

Each edition has only one pub date. The work as a whole has an original pub date -- it's not edition specific.

And yes, this happens with Persian dates too.

lethe | 16359 comments Now I finally understand. I used to wonder how you could tell which edition was the culprit, never thinking that it would be the one(s) with that date in the 'published' field. Duh. *feeling very stupid*
