You're welcome. Do you have any ideas how to get the group more active?

message 5: by Beth, What sort of idiot would steal a faulty tardis?. (new)

Beth Kendall | 259 comments Mod
Advertise it on other groups that was how I found out about this group.

message 6: by Lizzy, Chief Fairy (new)

Lizzy | 445 comments Mod
Do you want to do that? :)

The book poll has 8 votes, but there are 14 members. How are we supposed to get EVERYONE to vote?

message 9: by Beth, What sort of idiot would steal a faulty tardis?. (new)

Beth Kendall | 259 comments Mod
Not sure I don't understand why they don't it only takes 2 secconds maby we should say you can't be in this group if you don't vote?

message 10: by Lizzy, Chief Fairy (new)

Lizzy | 445 comments Mod
No, that's a bit too harsh.

message 11: by Lizzy, Chief Fairy (new)

Lizzy | 445 comments Mod
I've sent invites for the poll, and the two members that joined recently voted, but maybe it was due to the message I included, but maybe not.

Ok

I sent out another invite with a message saying the poll ends in three days, and it takes two seconds to vote, but those five remaining members haven't voted. Any other ideas? I really want to get this group going.

message 14: by C. (new)

C. (corwin1030) | 70 comments I know you said moderators only, but I have an idea for getting more members. You could put your group up as a featured group.

Also for the pole problem, you could message each of them personally. invitations only shows up in your notifications, and then disappear after a while. But If you send a message to them it will stay there until they look at it.

message 15: by Lizzy, Chief Fairy (new)

Lizzy | 445 comments Mod
Thanks for your input, but I've sent invitations with a message. How do you make it a featured group, btw?

message 16: by C. (new)

C. (corwin1030) | 70 comments you might want to join the moderators club. (i forget how to feature a group, so i will get back to you in a sec)

I've asked to join. Also, if you have any ideas to make this group better, you can post in the recommendations for the group topic.

message 19: by C. (new)

C. (corwin1030) | 70 comments just post a link to your group here https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/... They will feature you.

Life gets in the way sometimes, and that's okay. Could you help me get this group going though, Beth? This group needs some expanding. It needs more topics, for one, any ideas?

More roleplaying we could have a folder for it and in it maby a HP or a Dr who one Ect...

message 23: by Lizzy, Chief Fairy (new)

Lizzy | 445 comments Mod
I like that, but there needs to be an original roleplay too.

Hey, girls. Every time a poll is put up, only a few people vote, so I was looking at a poll in another group, and they have their book polls open for a WHOLE month before the book read. If we do the same, we will most definitely get more votes because people will actually have a chance to vote. What do you two think?

Yep that's a really good idea. I tried to open suggestions for September earlier so people could comment sooner and therefore we open the poll sooner. There's a couple of comments now but we could just go for a poll if you want? Shall I start a forum for October suggestions?

Not yet, give other people a chance to comment their suggestions. Also, Shane commented on the suggestions topic: Cinder, I'm not sure if that's a fantasy or not. A October forum is a good idea.

I haven't read it myself yet but I'm keen to read the series and from what I know I think it possibly leans towards sci fi? But it's a spin off fairytales soo

message 32: by Kirstie (new)

Kirstie Ellen (kirstieellen) (On its Goodreads page the genres go YA then Fantasy)

The main premise is about a cyborg who lives in a futuristic China, but it's retelling of Cinderella, so that's leaning towards sci-fi more than fantasy.

Well maybe we can include it in one of the monthly polls if you tell him to leave it in the group reads suggestions and then everyone can vote on it :)

Good deal. I generally think of fantasy having magic and sci-fi with science elements.

Yeah, I'm a pretty big sci fi fan so I don't mind how much sci fi fantasy has in it :p also, we just had a suggestion in October for the hobbit so I suggested if we want to read Tolkien we could swap it with your suggestion and put the hobbit up for sep and LOTR for October?

Ahh okay, well they don't need to be read in order (and personally I've already read the hobbit). That's a pretty intense book for study purposes :o although I think I'm doing a unit next year which might require that, oh gosh.

I've already read the Hobbit too, plus Fellowship, but I'm reading the series over (or try to). And good luck on your unit!

I've had an idea of creating a sci-fi book club, but I don't have much time for two book clubs. What if we turned this group into a fantasy sci-fi book club since the two are generally merged? Thoughts?

I like that idea, it'd probably be difficult to split the two anyway.
