Jean, nice to see someone else who is missing something with this Twitter thing. I'm not even good about being active on Facebook and updating my status there, so I can't imagine having to write little sentences about myself on Twitter all the time. I guess I just like groups like Goodreads better, where you talk about specific books and other topics with groups of people and have more "conversations".

Bloomin’Chick (Jo) aka The Eclectic Spoonie (bloominchick) I'm not really liking twitter at all. It's annoying (when you can't do anything because it's stressing or @ capacity, etc) and confusing (facebook statuses are easier to keep up with). It's also a bit creepy when a total icky stranger starts "following" you - hasn't been a week yet & o had to block a creep already!

Aside from GoodReads, I'm ok w/yahoo chat & facebook.

I like following other people. But i think I am far too boring with too litttle to say to tweet myself. I did use it when we moved because I could update from my phone and my family could follow us to know where and what we were doing but daily I got nothing. So for those that love it. YAY I get to follow you but sadly I must report im not follow worthy.

Bloomin’Chick (Jo) aka The Eclectic Spoonie (bloominchick) If anyone is follow worthy in life Tera, it would definately be you my friend!

message 56: by Thauna (new)

Thauna I have some random people following me, they are mostly trying to get me to buy into something they are selling. I've found that if I tweet about quilting, I'm suddenly followed by a quilter or a fabric store. I think it's funny. I don't really understand tweeting for business, but I they just are trying to get people to their websites.

And Tera you are a very funny lady...tweet about AI and Anoop eyebrows. My tweets certainly not exciting.

Bloomin’Chick (Jo) aka The Eclectic Spoonie (bloominchick) Yeah, I tweeted about watching the Highlander series marathon the other day a now the producer of the Highlander site is following me. Weird.

message 58: by Jean (new)

Jean Liota (gardenlady56) | 23 comments Jo wrote: "Yeah, I tweeted about watching the Highlander series marathon the other day a now the producer of the Highlander site is following me. Weird. "

So how do these people find you? Is there some kind of alert system that people sign up for to be notified if you Tweet about "yarn" or "Highlander?"

And Jo -- what kind of a creep followed you? That's really sort of frightening.

message 59: by Justine (new)

Justine (paperbackheart) If you tweet like...#yarn or #highlander, it's supposed to make your tweet searchable to someone who is looking for 'yarn' or 'highlander'.
I didn't know it would work without the hashtags, but I guess that explains why cheaptickets.com started following me after I said I bought plane tickets home, haha.

message 60: by KrisT (new)

KrisT | 553 comments The founder of Twitter was in town today giving a talk at the University. So it was on the news all day here. I have to say I have seen some posts but I just don't get the whole system? I don't get how you post to anyone in particular or you just post to anyone? I am computer challenged that is for sure. ha

Bloomin’Chick (Jo) aka The Eclectic Spoonie (bloominchick) Jean, I don't remember the name, but the person sent me a direct message telling me they were the one I have always been looking for. I replied "Uh, no you're not. My husband is." then blocked the person from contacting or following me!

I tweeted about Artful Blogging magazine the other day & now I've got a bunch of 'bloggers' following me. Yeesh.

message 62: by Cecilia (new)

Cecilia (cissygold) I twitter, but not as much as I use my facebook. funny thing is my twitter updates my facebook.

my user name @cissygold

message 63: by Duygu (new)

Duygu | 50 comments I just joined also @duygusu but I cant find anyone I know :( and it seems sooo simplistic? and maybe boring? hopefully I will see what the fuss is all about..

Go to the space at the top and type in names in the search box, I am under my name (Meg Seff)Also another way is once you get a friend or two go to their name page and look at the people they are following. If any are of interest click on their picture and click on follow.

I just started following Perez Hilton, he is hilarious

message 65: by Jean (new)

Jean Liota (gardenlady56) | 23 comments What's Artful Blogger? Sounds interesting.

message 66: by Mandy (new)

Mandy (mettakaruna) I am on Twitter but I don't use it often. I really don't get it. I mean I understand it but I don't see what is so interesting about following someone's thought bubbles. I am also on Facebook and I am far more addicted to that.

message 67: by Lori (new)

Lori Walker We won't let you stop Holli.

message 68: by Lizzi (new)

Lizzi Holli wrote: "LOL--I have a question for you all. Do you have updates turned on for everyone you are following? And if so what does that do?"

So you finally gave in to twitter! :) Cool! I have updates on for people I know only...including all Chicks.

message 69: by Jessika (new)

Jessika Hoover (jessalittlebooknerd) | 212 comments I've been on Twitter for a while now...about a year, I think.

Anyway, I'm at twitter.com/JessiKay22

I have an account. I used it when we moved so family could keep up with us.
Now I have nothing to tweet about. I'm tweetless in texas. I'm totally not worth following. I don't even follow myself.

Bloomin’Chick (Jo) aka The Eclectic Spoonie (bloominchick) Holli wrote: "LOL--I have a question for you all. Do you have updates turned on for everyone you are following? And if so what does that do?"

Turn that on only if you want the updates to be sent to your cell phone (which you can opt to put in under "devices" if you want).

Tera wrote: "I'm tweetless in texas..." That is so cute! That should be your name there, lol! I'd follow you any day Tera (and in fact I do follow you there). It's also neat for having short chats.

Jean wrote: "What's Artful Blogger? Sounds interesting."

Artful Blogging is an INCREDIBLE and inspiring magazine about blogs and blogging (quite expensive at $15 an issue but only comes out 4 times a year). I'm in love with it. I read the Spring issue cover to cover. Have to head over to Barnes & Noble for the Summer issue.

I'm following you now!

I'm trying the cell phone thing, having the chicks tweets text mailed to me. Not sure how long that will keep up if I find it annoying, lol! (Then again, with my text alerts on vibrate... LOL!)

message 73: by Brandie (new)

Brandie (brandiemichelle) How did I miss this thread? I have fun on Twitter. I don't get on it all the time - but it's fun when I do. And Teri - thanks :) I'm glad I can make you laugh.

I love being random and hearing other's random thoughts. http://twitter.com/bmetzger5481

message 74: by Jessika (new)

Jessika Hoover (jessalittlebooknerd) | 212 comments Thanks to all the girls who followed me...I followed back! Look forward to hearing all of your tweets! :)

message 75: by Brandie (new)

Brandie (brandiemichelle) I stopped following some celebrities because they were tweeting so much i never got to see my other friends tweets. It amazed me how much time they had. So I only follow some of my favorite authors.

message 76: by Lynlee4 (new)

Lynlee4 | 99 comments I don't follow many celebs but couldn't resist John Mayer, Neil Gaiman and Augusten Burroughs :)

message 77: by Thauna (new)

Thauna I follow too many...I'm thinking about dropping some. I should look at Kirstie Alley, I like the ones that make me laugh. I do enjoy the glimpses into Ashton & Demi's real life, but lately they've been tweeting mostly on causes which is good but I'm not in a position to help at this time. I like it better when they are just being silly. Like Demi's front tooth-missing shot in the dentist chair. But they are two of the ones I thinking I'm going to stop following.

message 78: by Lori (new)

Lori Walker I think I need to stop following them as well. It takes forever to wade through their comments sometimes.

message 79: by Meg (new)

Meg (megvt) | 3069 comments I am having trouble with my tweeting. I can read everyone's, it goes to my phone but I don't know how to respond to one person after they tweeted. Anyone want to give a tweet 101 lesson?

message 80: by Joy (new)

Joy (joy85) | 94 comments Heck no! I find it so annoying. I'm young, but still soooo old school in some ways! I've also come to hate facebook...I used to like it before it opened up to people other than people in college. I think it's just because all the applications got very aggressive and annoying. Though, if you're having fun- go for it!

message 81: by Cindy (new)

Cindy (cyndil62) | 1774 comments Hey Meg....I can't even figure out what it is!! Is it messages just on cell phones or does it come through on your computer too?? Feeling old and dumb here!! :)

message 82: by Meg (new)

Meg (megvt) | 3069 comments if you go to www.twitter.com and sign up you can then pick people you want to follow. It is like text messaging except it is computer based. Then you can turn it on so that it sincs with your phone, not a must you have a choice, so you won't miss your tweets if you don't want to. That is as far as I got.

message 83: by Lori (new)

Lori Walker If you want to respond to someone in particular, you type in @MegSeff (or whomever) and then put your comment. At least, that's what I've been doing.

message 84: by Cindy (new)

Cindy (cyndil62) | 1774 comments OK I did it! The only person's comments I see are Brandie's!! OK I just found you Meg...& Jo...! Holli, I hope I just sent a request to you and not some other Holli!
I will quit rambling here and try to figure this all out!

message 85: by Cindy (new)

Cindy (cyndil62) | 1774 comments Cool Holli! Glad it was you!

message 86: by Thauna (new)

Thauna welcome to the fun Cindy...I added you.

message 87: by Meg (new)

Meg (megvt) | 3069 comments Yeah our family is growing

message 88: by Jean (new)

Jean Liota (gardenlady56) | 23 comments Thanks for the info on Artful Blogging Jo! Sounds interesting. I'll check it out.

message 89: by Thauna (new)

Thauna Liliana...I'm following you now.

message 90: by Hannah (new)

Hannah (hannah7299) | 303 comments I have a twitter acount too! https://twitter.com/mybuzzabee

Holli,
I don't like using the Twitter app on my phone either...facebook on my phone is much easier to update.

message 91: by Mandy (new)

Mandy (mettakaruna) Okay, all this talk about twitter makes me want to revisit mine. How do you add it to your blog?

Mine is: http://twitter.com/njmommy2boys

message 92: by Brandie (new)

Brandie (brandiemichelle) When you're on your Twitter page - go to Settings. Under the Account tab, almost halfway down...look for where it says (You can also add Twitter to your site here) and click on that. It will take you to a screen where you can pick Blogger and get a widget to put on your blog.

I'm following you now :)

message 93: by Thauna (new)

Thauna I'm following you too, Mandy Sue.

message 94: by Cindy (new)

Cindy (cyndil62) | 1774 comments I'm following you too! Just sent a twit...is that what you call it or is it a tweet??

message 95: by Mandy (new)

Mandy (mettakaruna) Thanks Brandie, but it's not showing up for some reason...I'm so confuzzled!

I'm following you girls too. I'm still trying to figure out the whole twitter thing. LOL

message 96: by Cindy (new)

Cindy (cyndil62) | 1774 comments OK so I want to know do you get people you don't know following you on twitter? And do you block them or just let them follow? How do they even find me and why would they want to follow... I'm confused!

message 97: by Lori (new)

Lori Walker Cindy, I don't know how they find me. But you go to the list of people following you and there's a link that says "block." Click it and affirm that you do want to block that person. It's a piece of cake.

message 98: by Brandie (new)

Brandie (brandiemichelle) Cindy - usually those random people will follow me for about a day, and when they see i'm not gonna follow them - they 'un' follow me. i'm not exciting enough, i guess.
