Hi everyone!

I hope you're all excited to dive into our summer reading lists--no matter what you like to read, there should be something for everyone. If you see a book you've read and enjoyed on the summer reading list, please post a short review here explaining what's so great about the book, and who might enjoy it.

Happy reading!

Mrs. S (silversteinela) | 3 comments The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater is the first in a series of four books about a girl living under a prophecy and a boy who should be dead. Set in a tiny Virginia town that may or may not hold the secrets of a legendary Welsh king, this series will appeal to fans of gritty, realistic stories (there are abusive families, intense class struggle, and volatile friendships) as well as readers who like a little mystery and magic to liven things up (you'll never know exactly where reality ends and the supernatural begins--at least, not until the ending that will leave you dying to read the next book!) Stiefvater's writing is lyrical and lovely, and her careful storytelling rewards a close read.

Gwen O'Connor | 1 comments The Crucible was a wonderful book. I really enjoyed it. It gave the reader a sense of terror all throughout. For me, it was a little tough getting into the book at the beginning but by the third and fourth act I couldn't put the book down. Something I thought was interesting was that this book reminded me of the red scare and the era around the great depression when everyone was afraid of the communists and black listed them. I'm not sure if that was what the author was thinking but I thought it was interesting. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys history and suspense.
