God, the backstory we get on Tom Riddle! That's something I forgot how much the movies kind of simplified. In addition to this, I forgot how shady Dumbledore is! I definitely forgot how much I wanted to shake him and just be like TELL HIM ABOUT THE HORCRUXES. TELL HIM TELL HIM BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE! Alas, shady.

This series has too much hold over my life.

Up to chapter 9 of book 1 (view spoiler)[ I forgot how much I love this series! Harry is so cute, knowing absolutely nothing about the wizard world. And there are so many little things in here I never noticed before, that link to things we don't find out until way later in the series. This woman is seriously a genius. Oh, and I forgot how cute Hagrid is. He really does love Harry, and I like how much he stands up for the people he cares about. He was so angry at the Dursleys for criticising Dumbledore, and that's just so sweet! (hide spoiler)]

Up to chapter 13 of book 1 (view spoiler)[ I love the Mirror of Erised chapter, it's one of my favourites in the entire series. It breaks my heart that Harry lost his family so young, so I love any scene where he gets to connect with them, even if it is just through a magical mirror. I also find it interesting that what Harry wants is almost the opposite of what Ron wants, and that scene shows it really well. Oh, and fighting the troll! Yay, now Hermione is part of the gang! Go her for lying to the teachers to save them. Very un-Hermione like (from what she's like in this book). So I'm glad she's starting to become the girl we know and love in the rest of the seris (hide spoiler)]

Mid chapter 16 (view spoiler)[ The stress of Norbert! Of course Hagrid would think it's a good idea to raise a dragon in his WOODEN HUT. He's such a cutie, if a little bit dumb. I love how everything has tied together with working out the stuff about the Stone. Like the centaurs answered a lot of questions for them, which was good. And of course, Harry took all this to mean that he has to go and get the Stone himself. I'm so excited to see all the challenges and things. I sort of admire Harry's bravery, but at the same time want to punch him in the face for being such an idiot... (hide spoiler)]

Finished book 1. Not sure where my buddy is... (view spoiler)[ I hate to criticise anything about this series, but the ending is a little rushed. The challenges aren't, they're done perfectly. I get worried about Ron every time in that chess game, and Hermione is amazing with those potions. But the actual fight with Quirrell isn't done as well as it could have been. I suppose this one is meant to be a kids book; but still, I wanted a scene that kept me on the edge of my seat. I love the ending though, it makes me so happy. They deserved that cup, so go them! up to chapter 3: I'm loving it! Oh i was eleven when i first read this book and it's bringing back so many memories. up to chapter 6 inclusive: Being introduced to the world again is simply amazing. And harry's first encounter with Ron and Hermione classic! Oh and little baby Ginny! (view spoiler)[Wow now talk about how did your mum and i first meet? And i had to hold back tears when Hagrid bought Hedwig for Harry (that's a lot of names starting with "H" btw), soooo sad! Just finished reading chapter six of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone

There are is one thing, in all my times reading the series, that I never noticed:

(view spoiler)[ Harry first comes into contact with the Weasley's on page 92 in Chapter 6. It came to my attention the first time he hears Molly speaking she is unsure of the platform number.

"'Now, what's the platform number?' said the boy's mother."

The platform has never changed in all the years that Harry and the gang attend Hogwarts - I believe it is safe to say it wasn't different the years before this when all her children (besides Ron and Ginny) attended Hogwarts - Why wouldn't she know the platform number? I understand having a scattered mind due to her crazy household but after a decade or so of carting your younglings off to school you'd think she'd remember no problem. (This is not including the fact that she also attended Hogwarts because I'm unsure if they arrived in the same manner before the first wizarding war.)

Anyways that's just a thought process of mine I figured I'd share while I sit on the couch watching the first movie and reading the first book on this fine Sunday afternoon.
