I ask in part because I work with some people who would describe themselves as detailed oriented but I think lean more toward being total pains in the ass. In other words, they want to have everything lined up nice and straight, in terms of what we do, and if it changes they can't handle it. Since we work in classrooms, etc., change is a given. And they drive me nuts.
I'm detailed oriented when I need to be and global when I need to be but if neither is particularly necessary I tend to be more global first and then detailed oriented. I like to see the big vision and then work towards the details.
