MaryAnn (mapally) I recently realized that I have over 3500 books in the Kindle App of my iPad. I frequently troll through the free or really cheap books on Amazon, but I hadn't realized just how many I've accumulated!

How many is normal for everyone else? :)

Yzabel Ginsberg (yzabelginsberg) | 247 comments I'm over the 550 mark, and this is already too much for me. I can't catch up! ^_^;

In Kindle I only have 700, but Nook I have 1700. I am a book hoarder and I am okay with that. LOL
So many good books and not enough time to read.

I can't imagine being cut off! What a nightmare! LOL

message 5: by Carrie (new)

Carrie (icanhasbooks) | 313 comments I asked that question the other day to my gr friends. I don't have that many downloaded onto to my kindle, I have most kept in my could. In my could however I have like 6000 or so, most are freebies. It's a sick addiction those freebies. I have a bunch of books in calibrie too, books I bought or freebies from other sites like smashwords, AAR, etc.

message 6: by Beatrice (new)

Beatrice (beatricemasalunga) Around 800+ something. lol

message 7: by Ravencrantz (new)

Ravencrantz There's no such thing as too many books. Even on an eReader.

Kel (Faerie-bookworm) (faerie-bookworm) | 111 comments Raven wrote: "There's no such thing as too many books. Even on an eReader."

I agree, no such thing as too many. :D

message 9: by MaryAnn (new)

MaryAnn (mapally) Every time I see a freebie that I might POSSIBLY be interested in I select it.

Getting cut off would be a nightmare. I have to have my book fix! LOL

message 10: by Carrie (new)

Carrie (icanhasbooks) | 313 comments There's a cut off limit? I didn't know that.

message 11: by MaryAnn (last edited Feb 04, 2013 07:32AM) (new)

MaryAnn (mapally) I haven't reached the limit yet. I'm assuming its when I run out of space on my iPad. I do have to admit that I deleted a bunch of music to make more room for books. iPhone now holds all the music. :)

Is there a 12 step progream for this!? LOL

message 12: by Carrie (new)

Carrie (icanhasbooks) | 313 comments Wow, you have over 10,000 books in your cloud??

message 13: by MaryAnn (new)

MaryAnn (mapally) Wow, Sarah! I don't feel so bad for my 3500 right now!

Do you see all 10,000 on your Cloud tab with the down arrow and then you download them as you go?

message 14: by Amy (new)

Amy (dollyames) | 23 comments I'm only at 1,600/1,700 - but I'm always looking for new books!!

message 15: by MaryAnn (new)

MaryAnn (mapally) OK, I have the same problem with the Kindle app sometimes. It gets overwhelmed! :)

I can't say no to the freebie either! I like to have options. :)

Alana ~ The Book Pimp (loonyalana) | 374 comments 4,346 is my current number... that's just in Amazon.

I have another 2,000+ in Calibre (from Smashwords, and review books, All Romance... etc.)

I just went through my kindle (took forever!) and deleted off a bunch of books. I figured I had had them forever and haven't read them yet, I'm most likely not going to. I kept some that still sounded interesting, but I knocked it down to 145.

Ha! As they say: You took the very words out of my mouth! Lol

message 19: by Lydia (new)

Lydia | 2 comments I had way too many on my first kindle and could not deal with it. I need to have things organised or visually in front of me like a bookshelf! I've a second kindle now and try and keep it limited and store the rest. I download one book at a time (which is difficult!) but it helps me keep it organised as when I get a new one, I can store and old one.

message 20: by Trent (new)

Trent Ledford (fkakalu) | 12 comments I have a ton of iBooks. I think around 200 or 300.

Sheri | 13547 comments Mod
As long as you have the books downloaded on your Kindle you can read them anywhere, even withotu wifi. To move a book from the Archives (where you would keep most of them you are not reading) is what you need the wifi for.

Tasha Turner (tashaturner) MissyDevoursDelishReads wrote: "LOL be careful with those freebies! On my Amazon Kindle (the free downloadable app) I could only have about 2400 then they cut me off lol no more room :-)"

Cut off, oh no, tell me it isn't so. I currently have over 2300 books downloaded on my iPad with the kindle app.

message 23: by Elle (new)

Elle (louiselesley) I'm in the same boat as Sheri! I used to have over 2000 but knocked it down to just over 500 now. I have other people who use my Amazon account too for their Kindles so a pile of books on there aren't even 'mine'

message 24: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (lauriehouse) I have 800ish on my Kindle, and I'm overwhelmed by the amount. 99% of the books on there are free and I don't remember what they're about. LOL I gotta stop doing that. haha

message 25: by Jilleen (new)

Jilleen (jilleendolbeare) | 72 comments I have no idea how many ebooks I have (a lot). I archive them once I read them so they aren't physically 'on' my device, so I only keep maybe 10 that are ones I'm going to read or re-read active at a time. That way I don't have to scroll through or search to find my books!

message 26: by Ashley (new)

Ashley (ashl3y44) | 3 comments I have about 3200 on my kobo and have only read about half of them I get a lot of books from authors to review and so on kobo u can organize them by making shelves and u can see them all or u can select a shelf and see which ones u want to read there

message 27: by Ralica (last edited Feb 09, 2013 04:46AM) (new)

Ralica Ivanova | 41 comments I actually try to stay away from the free stuff unless it's a book I really want to read :) I have ereader and 99% of my books are epub. I have memory sticks (8 GB each)for my phone and ereader and all my books are synchronized in all devices so I can read anything anytime (and PC as well ofc). So I manage my books less than 300 at the moment and these are only books that I actually intend to read. I am really amazed how many books you guys have :) makes mw feel like an amateur LOL.

message 28: by Rick (new)

Rick Gomes Because I hate the kindle fire bookshelf I prefer to only keep 20-25 books on it. I use calibre to organize books and have several hundred on my PC.

message 29: by Trent (new)

Trent Ledford (fkakalu) | 12 comments I have a lot of iBooks that I attend to read. I have almost all the books that are on the usa today chart on my ipad.

message 30: by Cat (last edited Feb 14, 2013 06:14PM) (new)

Cat (cat_in_the_stacks) | 6 comments I don't know how many there are on my Kindle, but it is a lot. I got a message the other day that said I was low on device memory (first gen fire) so I pushed a bunch of them to the cloud. I love freebies too, but I am most addicted to e-galleys from NetGalley and Edelweiss.

message 31: by MaryAnn (last edited Feb 15, 2013 10:42PM) (new)

MaryAnn (mapally) Yes, I agree with being addicted to NetGalley and Edelweiss. I have too many waiting for review though. It actually gets stressful!

message 32: by Cat (new)

Cat Faircloth | 2 comments I know! I have over 200 waiting and it seems like I never have enough time to do anything but check for more. Maybe if I finally learn to speed read?

message 33: by MaryAnn (new)

MaryAnn (mapally) I always end up feeling bad when I don't like one of the books and have to do a negative review when they gave it to me for free. I know its the way it works and I do give negative reviews if that's how I feel about the book, but I know if I were the author it would be tough to have something negative said about something I poured my heart and soul into.

message 34: by w :) (new)

w :) MaryAnne wrote: "... but I know if I were the author it would be tough to have something negative said about something I poured my heart and soul into."

I know! I do try to keep my reviews positive if it was free, if I didn't like it I usually just say it wasn't my type, which is usually true so all safe there. If it was bad grammar, punctuation, spelling, etc....

message 35: by Sannie (new)

Sannie Hald (sanniehald) | 282 comments My kindle keyboard and kindle app on iPad and iPhone, and the iBooks app... I have 7000+ :3 oops

message 36: by MaryAnn (new)

MaryAnn (mapally) I'm glad to hear someone else is worse than me! LOL I went a little nuts a couple of years ago when I first got my iPad and now I'm wading through all the freebies I'll never read...

message 37: by Michael (new)

Michael Cargill (michaelcargill) Five.

Any more than that, and I get confused, and just end up buying a new Kindle so I can start again.
