I'm gonna read The Pearl in the forthcoming days, will write my impressions here after I finish it. (maybe even later this evening)
When We Were Orphans by Kazuo Ishiguro
When I told myself that I'll be reading "When we were Orphans by Kazuo Ishiguro" I believed to be entering myself into a detective novel with mysteries ready to be unveiled, but the big picture here is about the search of identity.
This book started a bit slow, but the pace was picked up as progressing further into the lecture. I kept having mood swings while passing throw the story: from boredom to happiness or annoyance.Nevertheless, the writing mentained an appropiate climax so that my interest won't disappear.
There are some question moving around my head regarding the last chapters in the book where (view spoiler) .(view spoiler) His conviction about his parents fate, annoyed me so much... Kazuo Ishiguro seems to have a talent for hidden messages since I believe that through those attitudes of our character, displayed in the entire book, he tried to send a message. As I stated above the search of identity.
An elegant writing, strange at times and despite the fact that the plot wasn't that interesting, his style made the book very good.
