This is our book for February. Please share your thoughts about it if you've read it. If you haven't, what are you waiting for? ;-)

Christina (fiddler42) | 7 comments I'm six chapters in and enjoying the book quite a bit. favorite quote so far: "Kissing, said Lesley, ought really to be taught as a school subject, preferably instead of religious studies, which nobody needed." (p. 97)

Ha ha! That's a cute quote :-) It's been such a while since I read this that I don't remember much of it. I do remember liking it enough to read the next one. Not sure if it's published yet in the U.S. or not!

message 4: by Emily (new)

Emily (librarylil) Sapphire Blue (book 2) was published in the US in October.

Christie (cereale) I finished this book last week. I thought it was a fun adventure book with a little bit of romance and mystery. Wish there was a little more history in the book instead of just popping in to random time periods and popping back out again. Maybe in the next book we will get more of that. Can't wait to read the next book and find out more about Lucy and Paul's story. By the way I think the Guardians are a bunch of misogynistic pigs. Anybody else agree?

Yay! I'll have to put it on my to-read list to remind myself to read it :-) I hope I can follow along since it's been a while since I read the first one.

Lucy | 9 comments I loved this book! I thought the main story line was really interesting. I loved how it felt believable. Some stories like this rush right into it and don't explain the rules and history behind what is going on. I really loved Gwen and Lesley, and I could relate to them. I agree with Christina- that quote was awesome. :) In many ways I envied Gwen (mainly because she got to go back and time and have a lady who made her beautiful outfits. Oh, and there is the little fact that she got to go everywhere with Gideon. That's not too bad either. ;) )
But- I also felt bad for her because of what happened with Charlotte. I know that I would feel terrible if something like that happened between my cousin and I.
I do have to admit that, as awesome as Lesley an Gwen were, Gideon was my favorite character. I wasn't so sure at first, (I kind of have this thing about guys with long hair) but once I changed his hair in my mind, he was perfect. I tend to like the imperfect male leads much better than the princes and everything like that. I love it when they're rude and mean to people. :)

I do have to say, I thought the romance part was really rushed. One second he couldn't stand her, and the next he was holding her in his arms. It happened pretty fast.

Overall I loved this book. To me the most important aspect to a book is its characters. And this book has wonderful, believable characters.

And the surprise twist in the ending? Wow. Can't wait to read the next book in the series.

Lucy | 9 comments And...I was just going to write a short, quick review. That didn't happen. Lol :)

I really enjoyed Ruby Red myself. I do think it did a lot of set up for the rest of the series. I had the chance to read Sapphire Blue and it was a great adventure and gave you a little more historically and a few more clues to the story. It will leave you hanging though so just be prepared. The romance has large ups and downs as well. I am dying for the next one!
