Phil H | 4 comments This year I have set myself a reading challenge. Its to read books from each of the EU member states, 28 states in all (im including Croatia as they join this year). The only rules are the author has had to been born in the country and its an english translation. Ive started already but would like suggestions for France, Spain, Germany, Sweden,Italy, and Ireland. Some titles other than the norm! Many thanks

Darcy (drokka) He is well known, but I think that Jan Guillou's The Road to Jerusalem Intl (the first in of a trilogy) would do well to cover Sweden.

Edit to add: The Mosaic Crimes is an historical fiction in the mystery genre. The author is Italian.

This might help: http://www.goodreads.com/shelf/show/e...

For French I recommend:
Les Miserable and Bel Ami

Italian: http://www.goodreads.com/list/show/13...

Irish:
Oscar Wilde was Irish and very popular if you want to look into his books.

I know some British literature but I'm sure you've already got that covered.
