Group Stats Challenge

Hey Guys! We're going to start a new challenge that will last the rest of the year. This one is pretty easy. :) We want to tally up what kind of books we're all reading and what rating we give out the most. If you want to participate then all you have to do is add your books to the monthly thread as you read them. *****I'd like to use this thread for questions and the monthly tallys only. I'll make a seperate thread for everyone to enter their books each month :)*****

Here's how we want you to format each book you read:

Cinder (Lunar Chronicles, #1) by Marissa Meyer
Rating: 5 stars
Genre: YA, Dystopian, Sci-Fi
Read: 01/01/13-01/02/13
Review: http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...*
Buddy: No

You need to put all of this information (rating, genre(s), date(s) read, review and whether or not it was a buddy read) in each post if you want your book to count. At the beginning of each month we mods will choose the winning category (5 stars, dystopian books, etc), but we aren't going to post the category we chose until the end of the month when we announce the winner.

THIS IS A YEAR LONG CHALLENGE, BUT 2 PEOPLE WILL WIN AN EBOOK EACH MONTH. There are two different ways to win.
1. The person who reads the most books in the category we pick will win an ebook
2. We will put all points into a drawing for an ebook.

So let's say that 5 star ratings is the winning category for February. Whoever reads the most books that they gave a 5 star rating to will win an ebook, but you will have no idea what the winning category is until we post the winner. It's a mystery! We will also add all books read (no matter what category) into a raffle for the second winner.

NOTE:
~All buddy reads will count as two points and must be buddy read in this group.
~If you start a book in one month, but don't finish it until the next, then you can still add it into the next month's thread.
~I will count any book with less than 100 pages as half a point so if you add a short book then you'll have to read 2 short books for it to count as one point.
~YOU CAN JOIN AT ANY TIME! You may start this challenge at the beginning, middle or end of any month that you would like to join. We want as many stats as we can get so the more the merrier! :)

BOOK REVIEWS:
*****Your review has to have details for it to count.*****

GENRES:
YA, NA, Adult, Fiction, Romance, Contemporary, Christian, GLBT, Mystery/Thriller, Paranormal/Supernatural, Dystopian/Post-Apocalyptic, Sci-Fi/Fantasy, Steampunk/Futuristic, Realistic/Illness, Political/History, Classic Lit/Mythology.

You can add all genres that qualify for each book you read (we reserve the right to reject a genre for a book if we don't think it qualifies), but we will NOT add in any genres missed. Some genres are combined so if, for instance, you read a Mythology book then it will be counted with Classic Literature books, but you don't have to put Classic Lit/Mythology down, just Mythology is fine. If you have any questions then just let us know! :)

***IMPORTANT***IMPORTANT***IMPORTANT***
Please don't edit previous comments for this challenge. I periodically count all of the stats and points, but I will pick up where I left off. For example, if the last count was at message 25 then I'll pick up with message 26. If you edit message 20 then I will probably miss it. New messages for each book please. Thanks guys!

This is really simple. We're just going to log our books and some facts about them...i.e. the genre and the star rating we give them.
Then at the end of each month we, the mods, are going to randomly pick a book characteristic to reward...maybe it will be 3 star books, maybe it will be dystopian books...who knows? it will change each month. The person who read the most of that particular kind of book wins a prize. i know i just said exactly what Jalyn said, but maybe it helped :)

I just had to sort it in my head. At first I thought we had to sort each genre to different threads, but then figured they all went on the February thread so it got easy. Thanks everyone!

All you have to do is post any books you read in the thread for that month with a few details about the book. There's only one thread for each month. You don't have to read anything specific, any book counts. If you click on the February link above under Monthly Threads then it'll take you to the page for February's tally and you can see all of the ones others have done :)

Jalyn (jalynnie) | 3827 comments Participants:

Please make sure your reviews include details so that I know that you read the book. I can't count your book if I can't tell if you read it. Thanks! :D

Also, I will count any book with less than 100 pages as half a point so if you read a short book then you'll have to read 2 short books for it to count as one point.

Jalyn (jalynnie) | 3827 comments Hey guys! Here are a couple reminders:

~Buddy reads don't count unless they were buddy read in our group.

~Reviews have to have a few details for them to count (We have to be able to tell if you read it by your review).

Thanks! :D

message 48: by Jalyn (new)

Jalyn (jalynnie) | 3827 comments For those of you who'd like to see, I've updated the points for the Group Stats Challenge. You can check your points out at the top of the February thread :)

message 49: by Jalyn (new)

Jalyn (jalynnie) | 3827 comments February's Challenge is almost over! Here are some things to check/remember:

POINTS: the current totals for individuals are at the top of the February thread. Please check out your points and contact me if you think something is wrong.
GENRES: Please check out the list of what counts at the top of this thread. Many of you are missing genres (hint: all books are either fiction or non-fiction) and therefore missing opportunities to win a book!
REVIEWS: must have enough details for me to know that you read it.
BUDDY READS: only count if they were buddy read in our group
LESS THAN 100 PAGES: only count as 1/2 a point and won't be rounded up.

message 50: by Tati (new)

Tati erm, I have a silly question. Do we have to sign up again for the March thread or just post there and we're automatically entered?
