Jessica Chmura Stephenie Meyer
I have read Stephenie Meyer's Twillight series in its entirety. I fell in love with those books, so I thought I would give "The Host" a chance. After reading it (which I had to force myself to get through the first couple of chapters because it was so slow moving), I was left unimpressed and a little unsatisfied with this story. I thought the story line itself was very creative. It was about an alien race who tries to take over different species, conquering one world at a time. The main character (or characters depending on how you look at it) is an alien (Wanda) that takes over Melanie's body. The twist comes in when you realize that Melanie does not want to give up control of her mind. That whole conflict was very interesting throughout the novel. I like romances, so I thought it was interesting seeing the conflict in the girls' minds when it came to Jared, Melanie's love, who eventually also turns into Wanda's love because of Melanie's memories of him.

Like I said, this book had great potential. However it was poorly executed and simply did not live up to my expectations.

Laura blake I agree that it was slow moving at first, but for me after like chapter 14 it started getting good as soon as she was found in the desert I was hooked, I really liked it in the end of the book, it was after I finished the book I went back though the first chapters again, because at first I was really just pushing to get though then after it started going I realized that the first chapter was setting up the story and back ground and I missed some things just trying to get it done. I do love the love story, almost as good as team Jacob/team Edward. This book takes time to get into it, but I loved the story!!!

Laura Personally, I love this book! I've read it at least 5 times! I was actually surprised that I liked it so much because I was never a huge Twilight fan. I honestly don't see what the draw of the twilight series is...the first one was good, but they kind of went downhill after that, and the last one was just AWFUL!

Meg I agree, I was disapointed by The Host. It just didn't grab me like Twilight. I keep thinking I should give it another chance and read it again but the book is just so long. When I see the movie trailer it makes me wonder why I didn't like it becuase the story seems so interesting.

Jamie When I first began reading the Host, I agree it has a slow start. At first, I was a little dissappointed in it, as a Twilight Fan...but, I began thinking of it as its own story instead of trying to group it with Twilight and found that I really did like it. It is a bit far fetched, but the story is about humanity more than anything, and learning what it means to be human. I loved it! And recommend it to anyone :)

I'm not even half way through the book yet. It was difficult to get into it at first. I had to re-read parts just to understand who is who, what is what, how they are connected and how this all came to be. But, now that I am into it more and understand the concept and characters more, I find it interesting. I too had to put my ideas of "Twilight" aside and see this as a new story line and idea. I loved the Twilight series and so I really wanted to read more of her work. I do want to see the movie to hopefully put some of this together.

Riley Ruchti I loved it. It was a little bit slow at first, but once I got past that it became one of my favorite books. I think it is much better than Twilight was.

Cecilia Carreon It had my attention the whole way through! this is a great read and hoping she doesnt continue the book. I like where it stood. CAnT WaIt FFoR MOVIE!!!
