Applied to be a librarian?

I applied to be a librarian. I have 150 books in my profile. Its been a couple of days and I didn't get any kind of notification. The librarian manual doesn't say what's the procedure after you apply... It only says if I get selected I get a mail.

So do I get a mail if I get rejected? Does it take a lot of time? I didn't write much in "Why I want to be a librarian" area. Is that gonna affect the application?

If it helps, it was several days before I heard anything, possibly even a week.

Oh thank you for the reply :) I'll wait for a while. But I didn't write much on the "Why" area. Hope they won't mind that!

As I understand it (I'm not part of this process at all except for having gone through it myself) the "why" section is the most important part of the application. They like potential librarians to show an interest in the catalog and how it can be improved, even if your interest is just in improving things which you might consider minor. (I think I applied saying something like "I'd like to upload some book cover scans since I noticed that a lot of my shelved editions don't have any" -- and look at me now! (How did this happen to me?!))

They do not notify you if you are not made a goodreads librarian—only when you are (possibly because they keep the applications until they need more librarians or until they need exactly the "why" you put in your appplication ... guessing, I don't know if or how long they keep applications around).

In the meantime, as you come across the edits needed leading to your librarian application, go ahead and post them in this group and they'll get fixed.

In relevance to the OP; I remember writing very specific reasons why I wanted to be a librarian (I think mine were all exposing my severe OCD tendencies, haha). I must have got them when they weren't too busy because mine was approved in under 2 days, I think.

But like others have said, they waited up to a week or more so I wouldn't worry yet. Just keep posting when you find things that need to be corrected until then :)

If you do that you run the risk of annoying the support bods. BAD IDEA. If you don't get accepted, ignore it.

Banjomike, I think they meant post your books needing fixes and a librarian will do them as per Debbie's post above.

I did not realize (silly me) that the email notification was going to my listed email address. I was waiting for the notice to show in my Goodreads mail.

The first thing I noticed that caused me to check further was that a link in the librarian's manual that was not accessible to me when I applied, suddenly was. Then I noticed that in my profile it noted I was a librarian. Then I found the email!

Backwards...but since I applied during the Christmas holidays...
