Dantezgirl | 195 comments Why wasnt it an option? Is it one of those pride things? I remember someone telling Ned the throne was there, he shouldve taken it. So would it have been the same for him? Forgot about Tywin coming late to the frey.

Dantezgirl | 195 comments Ah yes, I forgot Aryn, he spurned Cersei? speaking of, why did Aryn let Robert marry Cersei? shes still a Lannister, or is Tywin to dangerous as King?

Alex Murphy | 157 comments Jon Aryan set up the marriage between Robert and Cersei to build an alliance and get the Lannisters behind them. Many houses don't trust the Lannisters so wouldn't have followed Tywin on the throne.

Dantezgirl | 195 comments In the tv show mellisandre takes Davos and births the shadow. In the book so far that doesnt happen. Stannis instead was asleep and dreaming a nightmare. Sooooo what the heck happened

Alex Murphy | 157 comments can't remember about the shadow baby.

message 458: by Dantezgirl (new)

Dantezgirl | 195 comments In the book so far Stannis only dreamed of Renly it isnt said if he consented to his death or not. The shadow baby was able to cross land and invade Renlys camp. The one Davos witnessed was to kill the Lord Penrose of Storms End. Its said she needed to pass the warded by magic castle walls in order to birth her shadow.

Dantezgirl | 195 comments Again this seems so stupidly out of character for Stannis. To willingly use black magic etc. It doesnt hold true to what we know of him.

message 460: by Alex (new)

Alex Murphy | 157 comments Stannis is described as being very straight forward and following the rules. He is heir not Renly, so that is above black magic. I think he has a conflicting view of Mellisandre's magic, he is opposed to it but gives him a both a real advantage (Renly, Storms end) and an ego boost in all the prophecy stuff she says he is born for.

Ted | 14 comments Re-reading this thread reminds me of just how crazy Martin makes us with his damned books! The years without Winds just keep tumbling by and I don't see anything that indicates a change upon the air, as it were. Maybe he needs an intervention. *sigh*
