Hello all,

I'm stopping by with a quick update on my life. I'm currently in a rather rushed process of moving, some things happened and my family is packing up and going to another house. Nothing terrible or witness protectiony or anything, but we are hoping to pack up our house in about a week while still working full time then get the stuff to the new house then have a few days at a cabin in NC that has been set aside for a while now and is a use it or lose it situation so I'm not going to be able to be around very much.

If someone would please take care of setting up the poll for the fantasy book for Feb that would be great. Sorry for the lack of notice.

B. Throwsnaill (bthrowsnaill) | 208 comments Good luck with the move, Scott. I am guessing most of the work will fall on Jeff, but I'm willing to help where able.

I got your back, Scott! Don't worry about anything here. Come back as soon as you're able!

Sounds a bit hectic. Hope the move goes well and when you get to the cabin you have some time to relax.

Thanks for the well wishes everyone. If it's not too much to ask the alt genre poll is over and books need nominated for that as well.

Hmmm, we appear to have a tie with the genres. Un momento, I believe we need a tie breaker...

Thanks Jeff, I'm working off of my phone a lot now when I'm online and it sucks to try to set that stuff up from that format. We sign the lease tomorrow and will start moving stuff in ASAP. Not sure how long it will take to get stuff transferred and internet at the new place though.

I live in NC, Scott. Your cabin in or near Asheville? One of my favorite haunts. If you're thereabouts, consider checking out the Grove Park Inn (they have a couple of outstanding restaurants) and the Biltmore Estate (holiday season is best, but it's gorgeous any time of the year).

The Cabin is in Bryson City but I really have no idea where that is. Haven't done the travel planning yet.

message 14: by Walter (new)

Walter Spence (walterspence) Scott, Bryson City's maybe an hour or so west of Asheville. So depending on how long you'll be there, it's not too much of a chore to make the drive. At the least, I'd recommend visiting the Biltmore Estate, currently the largest private residence in the U.S. (If I remember correctly, the house covers around four acres, almost 180,000 sq. ft).

M.R., in my wealth-building fantasies, I own a vacation house in the Asheville area. Maybe one day. ::sigh::

Is everything going well with the move Scott? Have you started to settle in?

We have moved most of the kitchen stuff and pretty much the whole DVD collection. We are waiting till next weekend to get a uhaul and move the big stuff. Tonight is actually the first night we will be eating dinner here picnic style on the living room floor.

Hopefully everything goes smoothly and we dont get hit with any more snow. Thanks for the concern and well wishes everyone.

Ok, as a collector of movies, I gotta ask. How many DVDs are in your collection?

I have no idea probably 3 to 4 hundred if you include blu ray and tv series.

Nice! Although, not so nice if you have to pack all those things up. No doubts about it, moving sucks. I hope everything is going as smoothly as possible!

If anyone feels the desire to drive to Ohio to help me move I may be willing to provide pizza. lol This Saturday is the day we are planning on doing the BIG move so hopefully in one day we will get everything done. We are hoping to only have a very short interruption in internet as well but we'll have to see how things go.

Bit of a drive for me, but I am crazy about pizza! Good luck with your move! Do you have a long way to go?

Less than 5 miles. Easy for distance just gotta go through the crap and decide what to throw away.

Moving into a smaller place or just don't want to move that much stuff?

Bigger in terms of bedrooms less storage area though. We have had crap sitting in the basement that hasn't moved since we moved in here so it seems a bit pointless to move it again.

message 25: by J.D. (new)

J.D. Hallowell | 247 comments I'd be worse than useless trying to pack and lift anything, so it's just as well that I'm down here in Florida where the drive is just too daunting to make it even tempting.
