New Here, With a Silly Question

It's probably just me, but I'm wondering if it bothers anyone else when NONE of the covers for paranormal romances--especially the ones that involve shifters, feature models without chest hair? I mean, I just don't get it...
To me, it's just a pet peeve. What does anyone else think?

I agree with what your saying though. Men have hair on their chests, sexy men (like mine), so why male models shave and wax for these covers is beyond me. To take it a step further, I don't like when cover models don't look at all like the character(s) described in the book. How hard is it to take a picture of a sexy blond guy for a sexy blond character. Photoshop is even an option. They can use Photoshop to put some hair back on the chests too. Problem solved!

True. Since I was young, I've always had a thing for guys with CH. Shaved chests,unless the guys are swimmers, is just kind of icky to me.

Tabitha - I totally agree. They should make the effort to match the models with the character's description.

Sydney - Shifter equals hairy...they should be more diverse with the cover models and show some sexy hairy chests.

I've always been fond of my guy's CH, too. All my Hs have a little (trying to reach a happy medium), but try to find a pic of a model with it! I think it's because there's more definition to the pecs without it.

It's also a pet peeve of mine when the cover doesn't match the description and yet here I am, guilty as charged. At least I get the hair color right! I have a book coming out next summer where I actually wrote the description based on the pic and until I can afford a pricier cover, I'll probably do it in the future too!

LOL @ the walking rug comment....the geek in me immediately thought of Chewbacca....

I have to say that I prefer my fantasy men to have no chest hair or very little of it...that is just me though...my own hubbie has plenty of it.

I am a man (sorry about that) but my pet peeve is men on TV shows with designer stubble. I just tend to think women would prefer clean-shaven cheeks to kiss and I don't like the look of it at all.

I would stress I'm straight and only considering this from an aesthetic viewpoint!

I also like scruff, when my fiance's mother was alive (god rest her soul) she would insist he be clean shaven, I hated it... I actually like the way a little stubble/5 o'clock shadow feels, it lets you know you're alive. I like my sweet with some spice, & I completely agree that when the character is so vividly described all the way down to his " imposing man-hood" they could at least get the hair color right:) by this point we've shared every intimate sexual thing people/shifters /fae/ can do to a contortionist level( some which are impossible, we've made a game of trying, humans just can't be in some of those setups & "maneuver " as needed) we call it pnr cover twister, very fun but not something that puts you in the mood

I guess we could compromise on the 5 o'clock shadow, which happens to every man. As I just put my back out (in the shower, nowhere else...), contortions do not sound fun to me!

My hubby uses clippers on his face, its short, but not to short to be prickley (eg. beard burn) But its still short enough to not be beardy like. I think it works well.

I always think big burly beard must contain food, if not bits, scents, I know it's an unfair assumption , but I always think it.
