Barbara Brien | 151 comments He was on the verge of being fired anyway because his experiment was unsuccessful, so he decides to use his own genetic code. I don't remember what the actual experiment was, but none of the pregnancies had been successful before so after he was fired for unethical behavior he did not worry until a still employed friend told him that one of the half human babies survived. He smuggled the baby out of the lab and brings it to live with his wife and wholly human child. There was some kind of confrontation later in the book, but that is all I really remember. The half human boy can talk and does end up bonding somewhat with the wife because - chimps? maybe - are matriarchal? I think.

Barbara Brien | 151 comments Thanks - I'm sure this is it, I actually already have the book on my read list. I didn't find it to be a great book, but it was killing me that I could not remember what book it was from. Thanks again.
