The Harry Potter Collection 1-4
question
Am I the only 1 who doesn't like the Harry Potter and Twilight series???

I was wondering if I'm the only one who doesn't like the Harry Potter and Twilight series. I especially feel like I'm the only woman/girl who doesn't like those books. I read Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, so I did give it a chance,And I saw the movie. And I watched the first Twilight and just thought it was ok. To be fair though, I'm nota fam of vampire books or movies.

I really agree with Blueturtles. JKRowling's writing gets better and better over the course of the series and by book three, things are really cooking. The Sorcerer's Stone is an appetizer, in my opinion.
Twilight-meh. Always reading the books is smart, since movies do tend to leave out a lot from books in the interest of time. I'm not sure the Twilight movies are even really the best representation of what I consider a pretty mediocre book.
So, I'm half with you-I don't really like the Twilight series for many documented reasons, but I'm a total Potterhead because the world was well-built and the writing and story gets better each book.
Edit: Don't feel you have to slog through something you just don't like, though!

You should go back and reread Harry Potter and acually get to the thrird book. I don't care for Twi-ick that much, but I would still suggest you read the first book.
If you don't like Harry Potter after just one book, I'd go back and read them all before you decide you don't like them. J.K. gets a lot better over the series. I don't like twilight either, just so you know.
I absolutely love the harry potter books, my mum got me hooked on them when I was like 8, I am 19 now I still read them which just makes me weirdo but I don't care lol, yes I think the third one is my favourite actually so don't give on them yet until you get to the third before you make judgements about them all, give it a try
As for twilight, the books are nice but the movies are never good enough for me, so read the books as well before you give up on that one as well

You're definately not the only one, but I'm going to have to agree with the people above. JK's writing gets better and better in each book. My personal favourite is the Order of the Phoenix (the 5th one). I would recommend giving the HP books another chance, but if you get to the third book or so and you are not very enthusiastic about it you can just leave it right there:) You have every right to not like Twilight though. It's horrible.
I loved the Harry Potter series, and have read them all three times! I agree with the comments that Rowling's writing gets better as she goes along.
I thought the idea of Twilight was intriguing, but the books were poorly written.
By the way, I am 64 and a bookworm, so I have read a lot of books through the years!

I am not a fan either. I thought the first two books were okay, certainly not anything special. In fact, I wouldn't have even read the third one if it hadn't been for the hype because the first two did not make me want to read anymore. The third book was great, though. It had more meat to it than the first two, but not too much meat to it. It's my favorite one. Then the fourth book I got lost and bored with all the political/ministry stuff and stopped reading. I do, however, love the movies. I also think it's fantastic that the HP series got so many kids reading (my daughter among them) but I personally, did not see what all the hype was about with those first two books. I thought they were average.
