i've read this book A LOOOONG TIME AGO,

a question towards the end of the book Haunted me...
You know how at the end Katniss tells her 2 lovely children how the hunger games was. and aaaall that she has been through...

WAS THAT RIGHT?

My thought: it was not okai...cause i wouldnt like to tramatiz-

not tramatize but...not wanna tell my kids about how i suffered during the games.
im not their child. they r mines.
they shouldnt feel bad for me (in katniss' shoes of course) XD

Well, the good thing that Katniss did was to wait until her children were old enough to understand something like that, or at least begin to understand. But I think she made a good choice. Think about it; Katniss was basically the face of the revolution, her children were bound to hear the story some time. And if they are going to hear the story, they should hear it from their mom, not from other adults or even other children. But I don't think that Katniss would tell it in a way that they would feel bad for/pity her, I'm sure that she would find a way to make it have a lesson in strength and bravery, and she would focus more on that.

I agree with Shae. I think it is as important to convey what The Hunger Games really were and the brutality of them to the future of their world (the children), much as we do in history classes with the more explicit points of The Civil War or WWII and The Holocaust. On that note, Mockingjay really struck me as a modern Civil War... I think it is paramount to convey the events of history so we are not necessarily doomed to repeat them.

I am sure she told them in a way and at a level that their age and understanding could comprehend. In a way it would be no different then a soldier telling their child at some point some of what they might have gone through in a war. However, a lot of soldiers do not reveal all or tell all to their children just as I am sure Katniss only explained to them what they needed to know. They would learn about their famous parents anyway and have questions for them.

I think it is right. Her children would have found out sooner or later, and who better to hear about it from than the person who lived through it?

Yes, I think it is right for her & Peeta to tell them. It is apart of their history. The knowledge will give the children better understanding of their parents & what happened before they were born.

Yes, by sharing the evils of history we hopefully prevent similar horrors from occurring in the future. When we lose our history we are doomed to repeat it.

Well everyone in the country knows about them and most of what happened to them so it is better that it come from katniss and peeta than from some strangers. Plus it seems weird that katniss' children shouldn't know what her life was like and why she is the way she is
