M.L. Bushman | 144 comments I decided to give away my 16th novel, Tornado Talon, in installments on my blog. Warped? You bet, but that's me. I'm hoping to bring people a laugh, even an avenue of escape in these troubled times. Visit my profile and click on my blog or go to www.montanacrosswinds.blogspot.com

Posting a new chapter every Saturday.

Thanks so much! I now return you to your browser...LOL

M.L. Bushman | 144 comments The first chapter of Tornado Talon posted yesterday at www.montanacrosswinds.blogspot.com

Enjoy!

Paul Hi M.L.

Great stuff :) Lovely dialogue, smashing internal trains of thought, fast-paced, hard-boiled, with a sort of innocent yet sardonic knowingness about it that reminds me of the golden age of science fiction. Starting humourous, but with the potential to veer into action thriller, SF, horror or political conspiracy as you see fit.

I look forward to the next episodes :)

M.L. Bushman | 144 comments Thanks so much, Paul!

Every Saturday, a new chapter! I'd be interested to know what you think as the story progresses, what you think might happen next, that sort of stuff.

Again, thanks so very much!

Mari

Stirling Davenport | 5 comments That was a damn good read, Mari. I'm finally getting the time to read again. A luxury I had almost forgotten. The prologue was a great tease. I actually started with Chapter 5 and I'm working back. I'll get caught up again in a while but meantime, just wanted to say how entertaining this guy is.

Paul Yes, yet another easy-to-read and humourous chapter. Great stuff.

message 10: by M.L. (new)

M.L. Bushman | 144 comments Aw, thanks so much, Stirling and Paul. Glad you're both enjoying the story!

You know, from my point of view, saying thanks is never enough. Can't tell you both how much I appreciate not only your time in reading this story, but the time to make a comment. Means the world to me.

Mari

Paul That's OK Mari, your invoice is in the post ;)

Seriously, it's no problem. If I didn't enjoy the story, then it might be a problem!

Paul Still loving it. Poor Tornado is going to have serious problems soon, I think. Not all of his new bride's making either!

message 14: by M.L. (new)

M.L. Bushman | 144 comments Well, thanks so much, Paul! Glad you're loving the story.

Yes, the Tornado has serious problems looming large on his horizon...not the least of which is his own family...LOL

Thanks again!

M.L. Bushman | 144 comments We're coming up to the end of my novel, Tornado Talon. The final installment posted later today at www.montanacrosswinds.blogspot.com

Hope you enjoyed the ride!

message 18: by Paul (new)

Paul Well, I've been with you so far. Looking forward to seeing how ut ends.

It's been a nicely paced, readable story, with enough action and humour to satisfy a wide spread of tastes.

I suppose the chattering classes in Washington DC and New York, and come to think of it, parts of London as well, would sneer at the message as naive and backward, but what do they know? I agree with it anyway, even though I'm from England.

We could do with Tornado over here when he's played his part in the USA. Could we borrow him before our next election?

Once again, a good read. Thanks for sharing it with us, M.L.

message 19: by Paul (new)

Paul Aawww, sad end. Great story though. Gives me some hope for the future. Thanks again, Mari.

message 20: by M.L. (new)

M.L. Bushman | 144 comments No, thank you, Paul, for all your kind words. Those sad endings are probably the toughest to write.

Again, very glad you enjoyed it!

Mari

Jen Knox Self-promotion is so much more difficult than I thought it would be. I've gotten great reviews from those who've read my work, but to get new people to read it is something I'm having difficulty with. There are so many writers out there, so much information and talent, and it seems sometimes like readership is less abundant. Sorry to be gloomy. I just have to vent.

That said, I personally LOVE to find new talent because I feel as though I discovered it, in a way. It's so fun to be a fan of a talented writer and then to watch that person grow.

message 22: by Marc (new)

Marc (authorguy) | 26 comments From the look of the last chapter posted, I'm gathering that you would like Kathleen LaMarche's book The Plot.

message 23: by Dana (new)

Dana | 14 comments Yep, self promotion is exponentially harder than writing the book! I think the main problem is being a small fish in a sea of six zillion other fish. I suppose the answer is to do what you can, without violating your principles, and keep writing the best fiction possible. My agent says the best thing you can do to sell books is to "write a great book!" :)
