Have you read any of the books in the Wicked Years series? I am trying to determine if it is appropriate for middle schoolers.

There are sexual situations, though I can't remember how explicit they are...

Please list the age group, since "middle schoolers" aren't everywhere. (where I grew up, you went to high school from grade school as a freshman from 8th grade)

I would also say that this book is not appropriate for most middle school age students; not so much for the sexual content but for the story's strong abstract social and political assertions.

No, it has adult content and can be very difficult to understand.

No, I feel that this book is at least a high school level reading. Otherwise you'll have a lot of discussions, which will make the long story even longer.

I agree with the other responses - In addition to having mature themes, it's a complicated read, even for some adults.

Gotta agree with most of the comments here. The books are NOT appropriate for the middle school-aged reader.

I've tried a couple of times. I just can't get into it. so it's off my list.

I tried to read Wicked in high school and thought it was the most boring thing ever. Never mind the sex, I just kept waiting for the flying monkey battles or something, and it was all talk and I wound up quitting. At 24 I picked it back up after seeing the musical and thought it was fantastic. So, I don't think anything in the book would hurt kids, but I highly doubt middle schoolers would have the maturity to appreciate it or even be interested--I definitely didn't and I was mature for my age.

Not for middle schoolers... I have seen it on a Freshman Collegiate reading list. The content is too explicit

I think that it depends on the student. I read wicked when I was in eighth grade and I loved it, but the I lent it to a friend and she found it boring and couldn't understand it. I don't think it should be assigned reading in middle school because not every child will be mature enough to handle it.
