Lea's Audiobooks Hensley (leahensleysaudiobooks) There's a new Speaking of Audiobooks column up today. I'm talking about Untrained Narrators? I'm Not Interested. It's a cry out to publishers for quality narrations.

Also, we're reviewing Meljean Brook's Riveted, Pamela Clare's Unlawful Contact, & Erin McCarthy's Flat-Out Sexy.

Pauline (paulinebairdjones) | 145 comments I also found it most interesting. (Sorry to vanish. Hubby had surgery this past week. O.O) Learned so much for reading it and the comments.

Lea's Audiobooks Hensley (leahensleysaudiobooks) We'll be following this up with a 6 Narrator Panel with Susan Ericksen, Tavia Gilbert, Robert Petkoff, Kate Reading, Holter Graham, and Karen White.

We'll discuss how these successful narrators started out in narrating and, hopefully, by talking it through, we'll establish a path of success for new narrators. Whereas the Speaking of Audiobooks column identified the problem, the narrators' panel starts talking about the solution.

More details later.

This sounds like wonderful reading for both the audio-addicts among our group as well as those narrators trying to breaking into the field and do it right. Very stellar articles and discussions you've been generating Lea! Kudos to you and thanks to all the industry professionals and publishing house contacts who participate!

Susinok I was reading the comments on this thread on your website. I know I'm late but, one thing I'd like to caution on the independent audio books. Not everything produced is bad by ACX. I recently listened to three Josh Lanyon mysteries recorded through ACX and the narration was excellent.

Josh worked with his narrators and interviews/auditioned them and was very particular in choosing voices he thought fit his characters. The result was three very excellent narrators I'd never heard before.

Max Miller did The Ghost Wore Yellow Socks and The Darkling Thrush. He has an understated narration that was perfect for the characters and his accents are good, too.

Chris Patton narrated Fatal Shadows and did a wonderful job. He's due to release the second book soon.

Kevin R. Free did Somebody Killed his Editor and he'll be releasing All She Wrote, it's sequel, soon.

All three of these narrators came from ACX. The production quality was good and the narrations were wonderful.
