Help/advice needed- information about dwarfism
date
newest »

I always remember watching cattle sold at our local auction mart, and there were people making their way around the outside of the ring. So I was standing behind an attractive but 'ample' young lady. The person under consideration knew her and as he went past he pinched her bottom. She spun round to slap her attackers face, and I managed to get my left hand up to block her blow, whilst pointing downwards with my right hand.
She saw him grinning and burst out laughing

I am after some advice- I have an idea for a short story within the world of my novels and I would like one of the characters to be a dwarf- that is a little person not the "fantasy dwarf". He will be an active participant alongside a sibling - who probably won't have dwarfism. Now I know a bit about the condition and that some restrictions to mobilty apply in some cases, like being able to lift one's arms right up high etc. I would like the character to be a warrior/theif type of person - so using a weapon. Now obviously this is possible but if there are restrictions how severe would they be?
This character will hopefully be able to do most,if not all his sibling can do, but within a world where such conditions would be rare and not understood I can see most of the problems being he is not accepted as being able to do such things.
Does anyone have advice as to what limitations such a person might have, or can offer a useful website I can use to look. I would like be accurate in the descriptions of him.
I was thinkingto make him the older, more skilled of the siblings, or maybe the bossiest:) He is certainly not outclassed by his non-dwarf brother.
I have an interesting idea and it would be good to use a character who is not your generic fantasy fighter.
