Pushing the Limits Buddy Read!

We'll keep it simple, no target number of chapters or anything like that. Just post what chapter you're up to when you post something and use spoiler tags for spoilers in case anyone gets ahead!!

I've read 6 chapters. Here are my thoughts:

(view spoiler)[ wow! Echo is really likeable and I love her inner thoughts although I wish she'd speak her mind sometimes. Her life seems like a pretty big train wreck (her mom tried to kill her!?) but seems rivalled by Noah and his awful lot in life. It's really sweet how much he cares about his brothers and I like that he's smart but just doesn't apply himself. He's swears a bit much for my liking and for YA but I guess that's just him. Anyway, awesome start for me, I'm really addicted to the characters :) (hide spoiler)]

I've read through chapter 13 now:

(view spoiler)[ Still finding the thoughts of both Noah and Echo to be the most interesting part of the book and it's awesome they're working together now. But not much has happened so far, so hoping things will pick up soon! (hide spoiler)]

I have already read this book, but I like to stop by and read other people's thoughts about it.

I think the characters are one of the best things about this book I really like the characters.

I've read through chapter 15!

(view spoiler)[ I agree, I really love the dynamic between Noah and Echo. Echo is a really strange name, by the way! I feel really bad for both of them, but especially Noah. I hate it when adults just assume things about a kid. They turn a misunderstanding into the worst mistake ever, and make him think he's just trouble. So he acts out more and more...its a vicious cycle. I really like their counselor, and how she seems to recognize this and turn it around! Echo's "friends" are driving me crazy! I don't know how that girl is even sane between her mom, dad, stepmother, and the friends! (hide spoiler)]

Yay Jenny, you're all caught up!! I agree with everything you said, it's a hard story to read and yet I feel there's hope somewhere in there, at least I think so!

I'm sure there will be! I can see why this book is so popular, its all about the misunderstood teen, and I think everyone can relate to that!

Indeed I think all teens have had some kind of problem to deal with and almost everyone can relate to the difficulties Echo and Noah are going through.

Yeah true. And I can see why they'd be so drawn to each other. I really like Noah now that he's being nicer and not cursing as much. I just read through chapter 22 and I must say putting it down was excruciatingly difficult. The pool playing scene was really cool (because I love pool!). I also thought the writing when she was finally getting a memory back was very well done.

I've read through Chapter 24, and I also had trouble putting it down!

(view spoiler)[ The Dance! Finally, Noah got his head on straight! I'm so glad Echo finally realized what a loser Luke was, and got rid of him! I also glad Lila supported Echo, I was sure Echo was going to lose all her friends over it! David, I also loved the pool scene, and how Echo kicked Noah's butt! hee, hee that was classic! I really wondering what is going to happen with Noah and his brothers... (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[ Yes! I was really happy with how things turned out at the dance, I was fearing the worse, but I'm worried it's a set up for worse later on (hoping not!) Oh and the tenderness Noah feels for his brothers, heartbreaking! When he held his brother through his night terror! Completely changed any negativity I still had toward him (hide spoiler)]

I know exactly what you mean Amanda, I was just plain enjoying it until 30%, then from 30% to 50% I was like WOWWWW! So now I'm fully in it!

Finished!! Thanks so much for joining me in the buddy read!! Here are my final thoughts about the ending (view spoiler)[ I loved that they stayed together in the end and that it was a happy ending, I was really prepared for something unpleasant. Perhaps it was too happy of an ending, but if anyone deserved it, it was these two. I wasn't a huge fan of the whole "Will you marry me?" and "No," and breaking up and running away thing. Although they're young and only in high school, for the most part their relationship had been rather mature and it just seemed out of character for both of them. But at least they got smart in the end. I also like that they didn't sleep with each other, mostly because I really expected them too. It was a good surprise for a YA book that seemed to be trying to break down a lot of barriers. Final thought: my favorite parts were seeing Noah with his brothers, that's when he was most respectful, kind and good. They brought out the best in him. (hide spoiler)] Despite really enjoying this book, I don't really have any interest in the second book which will be Beth's story. I didn't like her in this book so I think I'll pass and wait for another book from the author.

(view spoiler)[ Ok, I was getting kind of mad towards the end! What the heck was Noah trying to pull??? Thank goodness both he and Echo finally came to their senses. I couldn't believe Echo's mother. And I think it was really stupid for her dad to hide Echo from her. She could have had closure a long time before. This is the second book I've read recently that deals with crazy (certified insane) mothers and the repercussions on their daughters. I liked that Echo got a chance to deal with it in her own way. I also couldn't believe her dad. I still don't understand Ashley at all! I think its good for Echo to get away for awhile, but it was nice that she loved her new baby brother!
Noah--its hard to have a coherent thought here! Too much hotness! Anyways, I agree, he was great when he was with his brothers. I think when it came down to it, the only opinions that mattered to him were Echo and his brothers. I'm glad he finally let go, he was way too young and broken to try to be a father!
The no sex thing was a pleasant surprise, I was sure they were going to with how hot they were for each other! I'll probably read the next book eventually, but it will be hard to beat this story! (hide spoiler)]

I agree with you (view spoiler)[ I was really annoyed when they broke up, I mean this happens so often and you know that they will end up together afterwards again. It is so predictable.

The "will you marry me" thing was a bit strange indeed. Not sure why that was put in the story.

I really liked how Noah was around his brothers and that in the end he did let go. (hide spoiler)]

I did hear some really good things about already, so who knows it may end up to be even better than this book.

I really liked reading your comments :). Pushing the Limits is one of those books that got me into reading more contemporary books, so it really is a special book to me.
