Have fun. I loved the book...but the author has fallen out of grace with me. She. Is all about Hollywood and not about the books anymore
I'm posting our card a little early as I'm going out for Easter dinner with the family and won't be back until later this evening and didn't want to hold anyone up form picking their books :) I'll make it official when I get home and post on the movement thread then

Well girls it's starting to look like next week there could be a winner Team Nine is on space 136 that's 2 away from the finish
Oh dear, not sure what I'm going to pick for yellow. I'll go have a rummage through my shelves :)Thanks Kat and Ezi! I just got back, I read the book years ago but I think they stuck close to it and was a pretty good film overall. I was worried Ian was going to be too young but the casting seemed pretty great (especially Jared). I don't know what people who haven't read the book thought of it but me and my sisters liked it.
Glad you enjoyed the movie, Josie. I'd like to see it. I read that book yeeears ago so I'm not sure if I'd remember all of it or not. For our yellow spot, I'm going to read WITH ALL MY SOUL. I'm on my phone so I can't post the cover. Her dress is yellow and takes up most of the cover. :)
Hope everyone has a great weekend and enjoys their book.
Ok so I am not here for two days and so many things happened. :)I'll try to respond to all comments:
@Josie: Thanks on complimenting my review.. If you like epic fantasy this is a good author to check out.
@Sandra: Yes definitely both books are very good. I will have to check out The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms soon, people tell me it's even better...
I read The Host a year ago. It was not bad, much better than Twilight. I am looking forward to the movie. Glad to hear someone enjoyed it.
We are going to the cinema on tuesday and my husband told me pick between Host and GI Joe 2. So guess what we will be watching. ;)
I think yellow is worst color for me, I always have tough time finding something to fit in. I will read
- I need something relaxing today.
@Steph: You'd probably remember more than you think you would! I always like seeing the films of the books I've read, although I never did go and see 'Beautiful Creatures' - I heard that was pretty rubbish, did anyone go and see that?@Dragana: I liked The Host better than Twilight as well. It was an interesting concept and I think if I hadn't have read it, it would've seemed quite a strange film. Hope you like it!
Okay, I hope Sandra's going to pop in soon to check if these work :P
- eh, not sure if this is yellow enough? I might be pushing it with this oneOr...
I'll go have a look on my kindle, see if there's any I fancy reading there.

:D thanks, Sandra!I haven't seen that one either Josie. I've read some of those books and like them. Shame the movie isn't that great.
I agree with Ezi ~ I'd go with LoTU. Or Prey, which was a great read. :)
@Josie: My husband changed his mind when he heard I picked The Host to watch. :D Argument The Host vs GI Joe 2 is heating up. In the end, I think we will have to see both movies. :DI didn't watch 'Beautiful Creatures' - heard it was very boring...
@Ezi: You can't go wrong with Lisa Kleypas. I think I didn't read any book by her that was bad. Where Dreams Begin was no exception. Great relaxing Sunday read. I'll write a review soon...
Thanks, Sandra! I think I will go with my lovely team members and read
. I'm nearly finished the second of LOTU so will start reading #3 soon.@Ez: I do love Lisa Kleypas so if your review's positive then I may just have to squeeze that book in ;)
It's a shame about 'Beautiful Creatures', I might watch it but if it's boring then I probably won't finish it. The thing is I wasn't too keen on the book - Steph, does the series get better? Which is your fave one because if I remember correctly, you've read a few of them?
Lol Dragana! Fight for The Host! :P

Book: Deadlocked by Charlaine Harris
Finished: 4/2/13
Rating & Review: ★★★★
I am not sure why people disliked this book. i really enjoyed it. I also don't get why people think Sookie will end up with Sam just because she used the cluviel dor on him.
In this story, Sookie and Eric are at a cross roads. King Felipe came to see Eric to find out what went down with Victor (how was killed in that epic battle last book) and also to punish Eric. In addition, Felipe came to enforce that contract marriage that Eric's sire Appias had made prior to dying on Sookie's lawn. Eric feels like he must obey Appias post mortem, and Sookie feels that Eric could chose to disregard that directive and stay true to her--thus they are at a cross roads with their relationship. Bill feels bad for Sookie hurting, but Hope springs eternal in his heart.
Tara finally has her twins with JB and Sookie's brother gets engaged. Now I feel like the author really dropped the ball with Sookie's brother and his whole panther culture in favor of those stupid fae. I am so glad the Fae have gone back to Fairy. Damn those faeries, they are too much trouble. But the "bad" fae was always obvious to me because I never trusted him at all. But they took up too much story space so I look forward to the next book being Vamp and Shifters and Sookie's love life.
I can't wait for Dead Ever After next month and I am still Team Bill forever.
So I decided to change my book, I'm reading The Host now for my yellow cover, I wanted to start it before going to see the movie, but it turns out I got to go to the movie before I could start the book, Now I'm kinda excited to see how the book is going to differ from the movie
I think it's best to see the movie first because the book will enhance and deepen your knowledge of the characters. Books always has moreBTW, I really enjoyed that book.
OMG, I just realised I forgot to write/post my review. o.OI'll do it right now (before I forget again). :D
Where Dreams Begin by Lisa Kleypas
Finished: 31st March 2013.
Rating: ★★★★
Another very nice historical romance by Lisa Kleypas. Our hero, Zachary Bronson, is a wealthy commoner who is trying to be accepted by English nobility. Lady Holly Taylor is a young widow who is still sad after losing her husband and feels lost re-entering society without him. I loved that Lady Holly's first husband was a good man and she truly loved him, I'm sick of romance novels where widows are sad and abused creatures and they have never encountered love before.
As always, Where Dreams Begin has a lot of cute side-characters and funny situations. I especially liked Lady Holly's daughter from first marriage Rose with her button obsession. And when Zachary indulged her in her unusual hobby, he won my heart. Although it will take him a lot more until he will win Lady Holly's. ;)
Good job Dragana. Is this book a stand alone or is it part of a series? Did characters from other books appear?
I'm 80% done with my book I should be able to finish it today, I'm liking it a lot :)

Stand alone. No part of the series and I didn't notice any characters from her other books (that I read).
The Host by Stephanie Meyer

Review:I had fully intended on reading this book before I went to see the movie, but it seems fate had other ideas and I went to see the movie last Tuesday and enjoyed it alot, so then I just knew I had to start reading the book so I could compare the two.
I have to say that I did enjoy the book a little bit more then the movie only because there was so much more detail to be read. The characters we're much more fleshed out in the book in that I liked how the relationships were formed over time, where in the movie it happened much faster. I was a little creeped out with the age difference between Jared and Melanie and was glad that they made him more her age in the movie, but I have to say I totally love Ian he is just to die for after he got over wanting to kill Wanda/Melanie. I guess all in all this was a really good read and I'm glad I finally got around to reading it
We're in pretty good shape we just need Steph and Josie's reviews and we'll be all set to go for tomorrow
@Kat: I'm glad you liked the book/movie. I went to watch The Host yesterday and I agree with you, some thing happened too fast but it was not bad. My husband actually liked it too. Said it was better than Warm Bodies. :)@Ezi: I will still read a sequel, if she ever writes it. But I agree that she dedicated all her time now to milking Twilight for more money. :/
Great reviews, everyone!I guess it's hard in a 2 hour film to get the same connection as in the book. My sister said the same but I think they tried to show that time had passed by the crops - when she came, the crops were just before being harvested, then by the end she was standing in a ploughed field.
I don't know if I would read any more Host books, I feel like she'd only be writing them to get a film, not because it's the right thing to do for the story - if more had to be told, surely she would have written it 5 years ago?
Aannnd I was right: Stephenie Meyer reveals that she's working on 'The Host' sequel.
Anyway, here's my review
Title/Author: The Darkest Pleasure by Gena Showalter
Date finished: 4th April
Rating: ★★★1/2
Review: I really liked some parts in this book but, for me, other parts dragged slightly. I know I'm going against popular opinion here but remember that PNR isn't my favourite genre!
She did do well with the POV changes. I think these are quite risky as it can sometimes slow the pace and I'm often not interested in a lot of the people (e.g. in BDB - makes me want to skip sections so much!). But here, I liked all of them, especially Paris and Aeron.
I think Danika held this book back for me. She just really annoyed me. I mean, I know it was all, "I'm so selfless, I'll do anything for my family" but, I don't know, I didn't really feel that. (view spoiler)
I think I liked 'The Darkest Kiss' better, though Anya was irritating in this book, I liked her in the last one. I'm probably going to take a break from PNR :)["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
Ok ladies we're just waiting on Steph's review and we'll be ready for the next draw, I'll be heading to work pretty soon so the card draw will be a little later this week, I'll post our reviews when I get home and draw the new card then, it will be about 2 hours later then normal
Hi, ladies! Sorry I was absent much of the week. It's been crazy 'round here. I did finish my book and here's my review.
Soul Screamers #7 by Rachel Vincent {Finale}
Spot: Yellow
Read: 5 March
Rating: 4.5 ★
Review:
With All My Soul reunites fans with Kaylee, Tod, Nash, Sabine, Emma, Sophie and Luca for the last time. Throughout the Soul Screamers series, Kaylee, her family and friends have battled Netherworld hellions. The hellion of greed, Avari, has been after Kaylee's soul; she's determined to do whatever it takes to end this war and ensure everyone's safety.
Throughout the series, each character has grown and changed - some more than others. These changes have kept the characters real for readers. But, there comes a time when battling evil becomes more important than high school dramas. In With All My Soul they find themselves spending more time in the Netherworld.
Kaylee's overwhelming need to rush in headfirst to protect those she loves hasn't changed. It's not that she doesn't believe in the saying, 'Two heads are better than one', it's that she sees that as one more head to be lost and chooses to take the bulk of the risk on herself rather than risk anyone else. Sadly, no matter how many times her loved ones tell her that none of this is her fault, she just doesn't see it that way.
I was a disease, infecting everyone I came into contact with, and the rot spread too fast to be contained. I went around with my scalpel, excising the infected bits of tissue - operating on lives and memories I didn't have the right to slice up - but the only way to truly stop the infection was to cut off the source.Together, the gang come up with a plan to bring down the hellions who have been terrorizing them. Will they all work together or will Kaylee once again take matters into her own hands? As with all the books in the series, sacrifices will be made.
To excise me.
I'd been struggling to clean up my own mess for so long that I could no longer tell if continuing to fight made me brave or selfish.
I have thoroughly enjoyed this series. It's always hard to say goodbye to a series and its characters, but Rachel has done a wonderful job with this finale. Each of the main and side/main characters are seen and heard throughout the book so that we get closure on each thread woven throughout the previous books.
With everything I have and everything I am. With all my soul." ~ Tod
Great review Steph, I'm planning on reading that series this month with a GR friend, glad to hear the last book was a good one
I'll be off work in another 2 hours so i'll post our review link and draw a card when I get home :)

Thanks, Kat. I hope you both enjoy it. There are times when some of the characters annoy me, but they've all grown throughout the series. I have a hard time remembering that I'm reading a YA book sometimes. ;)
Green, huh? I'm not sure what I've got that's green. I'll take a quick look-see and pop back with my choice.
Figures, right? That's happened to me several times during the game. I'm still hunting for a green-covered book that I have and want to read.
What color does this look like to ya'll? Too teal-y?
How 'bout this one?
Goodie! Thanks! Cuz I'm coming up empty on the greenies.ETA: I'll be reading
. Hope everyone has a great week and enjoys their book!

I sometimes wonder what color of cover I DO have, because I struggle digging something up from my tbr for each color. Thank God for green I had a lot of choices. :)I will read either
or
- depends if I'm in mood for ya or adult when I finish the book I am currently reading.
Great review, Steph! I just skimmed it because I didn't know if there's any spoilers. You've reminded me to get on and read #3 of that series seeing as they're all out now.No idea what I'm going to read for green. I'll see what I'm feeling as usual and post later :)
Thanks, Josie. It was a well done finale. I finished my book for the week - another YA finale. I really enjoyed it, but was hoping there'd be another book. Didn't realize it was a trilogy. I'll post my review when I'm back on my computer.
Hope everyone's enjoying their book!

Book: A Wallflower Christmas by Lisa Kleypas
Finished: 4/8/13
Rating & Review: ★★★
I did enjoy this book, but not as much as the previous 4. First of all, Rafe isn't one of the original 4 Wallflowers---2nd he isn't even a "lady" in need of a titled "peer". I didn't care about Rafe bowman in the prior books but the Bowman family was interesting as Mr & Mrs Bowmen were title chasers. It was nice to see the Wallflower still happy in their respective matches, and that they are still close. I am glad that Rafe and Hannah connected, but I wasn't as invested in their romance as I was the others. Overall, it was still great writing, great friendships and Rakish men who were reformed by good women.
Nice review Ezi, I don't know how I missed that one in Wallflower series - I didn't even know there is book #5...I am having trouble reading my pick, can't get past first couple of pages. Are we still continuing this challenge or is it finished? (since I think that team 5 crossed the finish line) In other words, should I pick another book with green cover or just give up. :D
