FL1: Team #2 ~ 2 Read or Not 2 Read
Josie, Steph's in Cali, the desert part. So has to be closer to her family than Japan *snigger*.Good luck on the dissertation. Do you have to go front up to a panel? And if so, when?
Lol yes! That was it, Steph did say where she was going, I just couldn't remember :)Thanks, Sandra. I had to do a presentation before I handed it in but it wasn't anything serious. I'm not looking forward to getting my mark back, I like putting it out of my mind (ususally by reading). At the moment, I'm doing work for my modules that need to be done before Easter - then I get a lovely 4/5 week holiday!
Thank you, I'm really excited! :DSo, I didn't pick a card because I don't think we've got all our reviews - I guess we're missing this week?
I'll give Ezi till 8pm my time (so 12 hours past draw time), so another 4 hours to post her review, or you'll be waiting till next week to draw a card.
Popping in for a peek at our card and see we're paused. I may start something new in the meantime, but will choose something else if/when we get a card. Glad you finished, Josie. I'm sure you did very well. :)
Yep, I'm in Cali. Most of our family is in VA, which is on the opposite coast. But they are thrilled we're on the same rock as them. I'm not as thrilled as they are, but I'm trying to get excited about it. We're suffering from a bit of reverse culture shock. :p
Oh and today, I found FROST BURNED in hardcover at Target for 30% off! Whoot! :D
I'll try to pop back in tomorrow. Happy reading, teamies!
As Ezi has been on GR within the last 6 hours and failed to post - declaring this week for Team #2 - Miss a Turn.Sorry guys.
Did anyone try and PM her? If not, might be a good idea so you're able to play next week ;)
Lol @ "I'm not as thrilled as they are". That cracked me up! How often do you move? And if/when you do move, is it possible that your husband will get sent anywhere or is there only certain places?Lucky on the Frost Burned! I can't wait to read that one :)
That's okay, Sandra. We've just fallen apart since Captain Kat isn't here! If Ezi's on GR then I'm sure she'll come along sometime today. Just checking - do we have to finish this team card before we pick next week?
If you mean the one Ezi hasn't posted, then yes. And by the way, you aren't the only team that missed this week.
Josie wrote: "Wait! I thought it was Sunday night (going cray cray here), so we still have time lol"I thought we had until Sunday night to post as well!!!!
OMG! I'm so sorry...why didn't any PM me. I'm so mortified. I just came to post right now. I'm so sorry.
book Dark Needs at Night's Edge by Kresley Coledate finished March 9
Color Red
Rating & Review 3.5 stars. Its been st least a year and a half almost 2 years since I read the prior book in the IAD series so I was a tad fuzzy on the players. Plus that book was a top five fab as well so this book was already swimming across the current.
With that said, it was okay. I liked it but didn't love it. I'm always shocked to see a virgin male vampire so I was rooting for Conrad to get bloodied. The love match with a ghost was pretty well written and I liked Noemi. I just didn't love them like I loved Bowen and Mariketa.
I will read book 6... but it wasn't intrigued enough to jump into it.
Ok. I went back and re read our thread and the cutoff is Sat around 8pm. I feel so bad and would like to apologize to the team for being careless. I am very sorry.
Hey don't worry Ez! It was an easy mistake to make. Plus, it just depends what we pick, in this game we can jump a lot of spaces with the right card :)
Meh, no worries, Ezi!! Please don't fret. We'll rock it out next week. Everyone enjoy the pressure free week's reading. :) I've chosen FROST BURNED. One because I couldn't wait and two it's got a white cover. ;) I miss chatting with all of my GR peeps, but things are so chaotic for me right now. I will poke my head back in to grab the next color/spot and choose a book, for sure. But, I hope to have some quality GR time soon. Withdrawal sucks! Miss y'all!
Hey Girls, I'm back from the land of sun and fun!!
I'm kinda glad we got to skip last week I only managed to read 1 book while I was away and it took me all week to do it :D
So I'll be able to restart my Captain duties tomorrow, now I'm off to get some sleep, I'm running on about 2 hours sleep out of 24, but it was so worth it...lol!

Hey team :DI'm not sure what I'm going for yet, I have an (another!) essay to do by Tuesday so I probably won't decide until then. I may go for
because for some reason I haven't read it yet or this
if it's orange enough.
Ezi, I think nightwalker is more orange then the other one but ask Sandra she'll be able to best judge for you :)
Hi team, sorry for being quiet this last week.Kat I hope you had a nice time on your trip and that Steph settled down a little bit after her move.
I'll read
Hi teammies! Of course we get orange after I've read the only orange covered book I brought with me. :( I have scrolled thru my Kindle freebies and found FORGED IN FIRE by McCallan, FIRST VISIONS by Wood and OPAL FIRE by Annino. I think they're all orangey and they're all listed on GR as 200+ pgs. I'll probably give Opal Fire a go first and switch if I don't like it. Hope ya had fun, Kat!
Good luck on your paper, Josie!
Week Seven - 6 of SpadesColor/Space: Orange/113

Book: Nightwalker by Jocelyn Drake
Finished: 3/18/13
Rating & Review: ★★ ½
I didn’t exactly like this book, but there is enough potential there that I would read book 2. This book starts off with a 600 yr old vampire enforcer named Mira. She keeps order for the her Liege and the council of Elders.
But a vampire hunter named Danaus comes seeking her out. Danaus belongs to the group Themis, who protect humans from all Nightwalkers…but he has powers that make him more than human. Anyway, while Danaus hates her kind and hunts them, the hunters are more worried about two ancient races named Naturi & the Bori. The ancients actually intend on ruling all of the world, but in an battle with the vampires, they were defeated and banished from earth. The Naturi & the Bori have now found a way to weaken the protective seal and are plotting their return to earth.
They want to use Mira, destroy her race and recapture earth. Danarus and his race are able to “feel” the Ancients whereas the vampires do not. So Mira and Danarus join forces to confront this ancient threat in order to protect earth from the takeover attempt..
This book had it all, lyncanthropes, vampire, fae, and it was really dark. I did enjoy the sexual tension between Mira and Danaus, but not enough to overcome the slowness of this book. In the future, I will read book 2 to see if it got more interesting.
Good review. I think that one improved after book 2, Ezi. I really enjoyed that series, but many don't.
Steph wrote: "Good review. I think that one improved after book 2, Ezi. I really enjoyed that series, but many don't."It needed a little more romance or a little more softness or humanity or something. It just wasn't enjoyable but I think I could enjoyable with a little more light.
Danaus reminded me a little of Jerricho Barrons because he has these powers, but no one knows what the heck he is and the full extent of his power. So he is mysterious and then this thing with Mira gave a nice sexual tension.
Mira and Jabari feel a little like a master slave relationship where she is mistaking her feelings of gratitude for love. He doesn't love her as a woman, but as a servant because he is quick to threaten her and scare the crap out of her when she "gets" out of line. I think Danaus is more equal in footing with her.
It's definitely dark and stays that way throughout. Danaus was a favorite character of mine. One of the later books is in his POV. Sadly, the tension lasts waaay longer than I normally like in a series. The relationship between Mira and Jabari is odd throughout as well. But, she eventually realizes the games he's playing. Sorry for any spoilery info, but didn't want ya to waste time with the second if it's not your thing. :)

Sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy that book very much Ezi, I hope Angel's Ink works better for you.I'm done with my book, now I only need to write a review.
Dragana wrote: "Sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy that book very much Ezi, I hope Angel's Ink works better for you.I'm done with my book, now I only need to write a review."
I'm glad I tried it. It really does have potential. But I need more romance too
And Then She Fell by Stephanie Laurens
Date finished: 18.Mar.2013.
Rating: 3 stars
Henrietta is a 29-year old and happy about it. But she is not called spinster or something like it. No she has much cooler nickname 'The Matchbreaker'. Why? Because, she uses connections and associations of her powerful family, Cynster clan, to help young women who are courted by men with questionable motives. Henrietta helps them find out what they suitors have in mind and should the match be made ... or broken.
But everyone makes mistakes. And when Henrietta too quickly judges her brother's best friend James Glossup, she has to make it up to him - by finding him a suitable bride. Except the more time James spends with Henrietta, he's more inclined 'to give love a try'. "Who knew? It might suit him?"
The romance between Henrietta and James is sweet. I was afraid that it's going to turn into one of those irritating types where they love each other secretly but they are too stupid or afraid to talk about it until the end of the book.
But no, after just enough tension and interesting turns James and Henrietta admit their love for each other. The rest of the book is devoted to solving the mystery they got entangled with. Honestly, this book should be labeled romantic-suspense not historical romance. That's why the low rating from me - I don't like these type of plots.
But if you like historical suspense novels, this is a good one. I could not guess what is happening until the end.
And Then She Fell is also a treat for Stephanie Laurens fans because a lot of characters from previous Cynster series books will make an appearance here to help out.
Stephanie Lauren's books just don't hit the spot like Julia Quinn or Lisa Kleypas. I will try Elizabeth Hoyt soon
Yeah, that series is more dark UF, so makes sense if you're more a fan of PNR or UF-R. I have read her Asylum Tales prequels and enjoyed them. I have Angel's Ink TBR and will probably start it sooner rather than later. The prequels didn't have any romance really, but that doesn't mean the full length ones won't. The prequels were mainly introducing several of the characters I expect we'll see throughout the rest of the series. I like the idea of magic woven into tattoos. I think I may have seen another series doing something similar, but I can't remember the name. I haven't had a chance to get far into mine yet, only on chapter 2. But, I'll have it finished by week's end.
We found a house to rent and are now waiting on Internet installation. I feel like a misplaced Borg - very disconnected from the collective. LOL! I'm such a nerd.
LMAO. As long as you don't look like Picard you'll be OK.Dragana, I've read about 30 or 35 Stephanie Laurens, some are really good, but I just got a bit sick of them, though I do like those Cynsters :DD
Ezinwanyi~Mord'Sith wrote: "Stephanie Lauren's books just don't hit the spot like Julia Quinn or Lisa Kleypas. I will try Elizabeth Hoyt soon"@Ezi: Exactly! I love both of them. You should give Eloisa James a try (if you didn't already) - she's has also a lot of quirky characters in her novels.
@Sandra: Yeah I read this book because I didn't hang out with Cynsters for some time now and thought that I should give them a visit. :) And wow at the number of books, I read just a couple of them.
Dragana wrote: "Yeah I read this book because I didn't hang out with Cynsters for some time now and thought that I should give them a visit. :) ..."I got the Cynsters on audio and I couldn't get into it, so last month I got it on my kindle. I am hoping reading it would make it more interesting...but after your review, I am wondering about that decision.
I read
and it was okay (★★★1/2 stars in my opinion.)I was planning to read book 2
to see if I liked it more.

Both books that I've read by her have been good - I've got a few freebies from her paranormal series that I might try to read soon, I hope they're good too! Let me kow how you find 'The Secret of Ella and Micha' :)
