I want to read this one does it look blue enough?

Tiger's Curse (The Tiger Saga, #1) by Colleen Houck

message 152: by Josie (new)

Josie | 1967 comments I think it looks blue enough :)

I have quite a lot of options but will probably go with Storm's Heart (Elder Races #2) by Thea Harrison - blue enough? It does look a bit turquoise-y on the screen :/

Looks blue to me Josie

I don't know it looks silver to me. Iced blue is more like Iced (Fever, #6; Dani O'Malley, #1) by Karen Marie Moning

Ezi Chinny (ezinwanyi) | 2516 comments I'm reading Gentlemen Prefer Succubi (Succubus Diaries, #1) by Jill Myles . I think its blue enough. If not, then Dark Needs at Night's Edge (Immortals After Dark, #5) by Kresley Cole

message 157: by [deleted user] (new)

ok since I can't seem to decide if Tiger's curse is blue or silver I'm going to go with either one of these instead.

Gravity (The Taking, #1) by Melissa West or False Memory (False Memory, #1) by Dan Krokos

Sandra | 25913 comments Girls, they are all blue enough ;)

Remember this is supposed to be fun!

message 159: by [deleted user] (last edited Feb 09, 2013 05:05PM) (new)

thanks Sandra I was waffling between blue and silver for my first choice but since you say it's good enough I'll go back to that one :)

Sorry Kat, didn't mean to ran on your parade

Would Hopeless (Hopeless, #1) by Colleen Hoover be considered blue enough?

message 162: by [deleted user] (new)

I think its blue enough :D

Thank you. I will choose between Gentlemen Prefer Succubi (Succubus Diaries, #1) by Jill Myles & Hopeless (Hopeless, #1) by Colleen Hoover

Steph (angel4492) | 32742 comments Best of luck with your dissertation, Josie!!

Dang, blue, huh? I'm not sure what I'll read. I'll look through my options and post my choice soon.

Happy Reading, Ladies!

Dragana (diaryofthebookdragon) | 2441 comments Yay blue my favorite color. And so many choices, but I think I am going to go with something light.

message 171: by Josie (new)

Josie | 1967 comments Wow so much snow!

I've started Storm's Heart and I'm surprised at how much I'm really liking this one :)

Happy reading everyone!

message 172: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32742 comments Wow! That's a lot of snow, Kat. Stay warm!

Thanks for reminding me about that series, Dragana. I've got the last two TBR.

I'm reading Unravel Me (Shatter Me, #2) by Tahereh Mafi for BLUE.

message 173: by Dragana (new)

Dragana (diaryofthebookdragon) | 2441 comments Hi team, how are you? All busy reading, it seems. ;)
I hope Kat survived battling with snow.

@ Steph You're welcome, I am using this challenge as an excuse to finish the long-forgotten series I started. I finished Bled Dry and it was the same as previous books.

Dragana (diaryofthebookdragon) | 2441 comments Bled Dry (Vegas Vampires, #3) by Erin McCarthy
Bled Dry by Erin McCarthy
Date finished: 12.Feb.2013.
Rating: 3 stars

After two books, situation for vampires in Vegas is still very complicated. Vampire elections are still not over so Alexis & Ethan are still busy with them. But then additional complication occurs - Brittany, Alexis sister and human, is pregnant with a vampire scientist Corbin. It seems that two hundred year old vampire sperm is still not past its expiration date. ;)

As usual there is a lot going on in this book. Although focus is on the development of love story between Brittany & Corbin, there are also two romances on sidelines that I found both intriguing: Ringo & Kelsey and Donatelli & Gemma. I hope they continue in the next book, because I cheering for them to reach HEA too.
As for Brittany & Corbin their relationship added a much needed humor to the story. It's funny to see 200-year-old standards of child-raising conflict with new and modern practices. Corbin even goes to Baby Boot Camp. LOL

Bled Dry is not too hot/sexy or humorous book but writing is not bad and if you are looking for a paranormal romance with vampires, you could do much better than picking this one. I don't think that 'Vegas Vampires' is any worse that 'Love at Stake' or 'Argeneau' and it deffinitely has less books. Those monstrously big, never-ending series intimidate me.

Josie | 1967 comments Great review, Dragana!

Storm's Heart (Elder Races #2) by Thea Harrison

Title/Author: Storm's Heart by Thea Harrison
Date finished: 13th February
Rating: ★★★★1/2
Review: I really liked this book. I think it was because everyone said that it wasn't as good as the first (which it probably wasn't but it's been such a long time since I read Dragon Bound) and so I had pretty low expectations.

Things I liked:
-Finding out about the other Elder Races (where their power is etc)
-Tiago
-Good setting up for the next book (assuming it is Rune and Carling)
-I liked that all their problems didn't go away at the end - still have some issues with the Throne and a Wyr etc. I imagine we'll still see more of them in other books

Things that I liked less (but I still enjoyed the book!)
-I liked Niniane and her character growth but I don't know, it seemed like she was a different person from "Tricks" in the beginning
-I guessed who the murderer was a lot earlier on and the plot slowed down a little in the middle but I still really liked this book!

I'm going to wait until next week to read the next one seeing as it'd be a good choice if purple comes up Serpent's Kiss (Elder Races #3) by Thea Harrison :D

message 179: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32742 comments Great review, Josie. Yep, Rune and Carling are next. I love Rune, but he was different than I'd expected in book 3. Still, I really like that world Thea's created and enjoy the series.

message 180: by Josie (new)

Josie | 1967 comments Thanks, Steph! Looking forward to a completely different couple. Hmm... your comment is intriguing (about Rune being different than expected), I guess he's going to get more intense/serious? Which would be a bit of a shame as I like his charm etc.

Ezi Chinny (ezinwanyi) | 2516 comments Ok Teammates, I just started Dance with the Devil (Dark-Hunter, #4; Were-Hunter, #2) by Sherrilyn Kenyon . I should be done by friday.

message 183: by Josie (new)

Josie | 1967 comments Don't worry Ez, you still have time :)

Hope you enjoy the book - that's the furthest I've got to in the Dark-Hunter series, maybe one day I'll get through them all ;)

message 184: by [deleted user] (new)

I've changed my book choice again back to False Memory (False Memory, #1) by Dan Krokos I started reading it yesterday and haven't been able to put it down :)

message 185: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32742 comments Josie, don't wanna sway your thoughts about it, so I won't comment any further.

Finally finished mine this AM. No time for a review post now, but I'll get 'er done before the next draw.

Glad you're enjoying that one, Kat. It sounds interesting.

Hope you like yours too, Ezi.

Happy Valentine's Day, Teamies! Or Anti-Valentine's Day, whichever you'll be rockin'. ;)

The Challenge Factory is doing a series read of Dark Hunters and we just finished book 3. To my surprise Book 4 that we started had a hardcover that's blue. I was so excited.

I've wanted to red DH but its got 5 billion books in that series and that intimidates me, just like the Dark Carpathians and Anita Blake. But I have really really enjoyed book 2&3 so I'll continue with the group read for now

Dragana (diaryofthebookdragon) | 2441 comments Nice review Josie. I also did not read 'Storm's Heart' because everyone told me it's not very good. But since I read 'Dragon Bound' also long time ago like you, I will give it a try soon. :)

Ezinwanyi, I hope you like 'Dance with the Devil', I only got as far as book #2 in Dark Hunter series. Another long pnr series I need to conquer. :o)

Josie | 1967 comments Steph wrote: "Josie, don't wanna sway your thoughts about it, so I won't comment any further."

Lol! Okay then, I'm looking forward to reading it anyway :)

@Ez: It's definitely intimidating when a book has over 20 books! I've started quite a few long series, such as Dark-Hunter, Stephanie Plum, In Death etc but so far haven't got that far in!

Dragana wrote: "Nice review Josie. I also did not read 'Storm's Heart' because everyone told me it's not very good. But since I read 'Dragon Bound' also long time ago like you, I will give it a try soon. :)"

Tbh, I think 'Storm's Heart' had HUGE expectations because of all the love surrounding 'Dragon Bound' but it was never going to get there and because of this IMO it was almost rated lower than it should've been if it hadn't had to follow DB. Hope you like it, you've definitely waited long enough :P

I am supposed to read Storm's Heart (Elder Races, #2) by Thea Harrison this weekend after my current book and I heard it was good. the only book people expressed disappointment with is Rune's book and he is my favorite so far. But I will wait until Sunday with hopes that a color called will work with Storm's heart

Steph (angel4492) | 32742 comments Unravel Me (Shatter Me, #2) by Tahereh Mafi
Shatter Me Trilogy #2 by Tahereh Mafi
Space/Color: 34/Blue
Read: 14 Feb 2013
Rating: 4★
Review:
After 264 days in solitary confinement, Juliette met Adam. His presence shattered her (Shatter Me). Her touch is deadly. She's already killed one innocent and she's determined to never do it again. But, his touch, Adam's touch unravels her.
"All I know next are his arms, the desperate edge to his voice when he says my name, and I'm unraveling in his embrace, I'm frayed and falling apart and I'm making no effort to control the tremors in my bones and he's so hot his skin is so hot and I don't even know where I am anymore"
[As you can see, Tahereh's almost lyrical writing method remains. However, those who may have been turned off by the frequent word strikes in book 1 will notice those are few and far between in this installment.]

Juliette, Adam, and Adam's little brother, James are living at Omega Point with others who have similar abilities. Without doing so intentionally, Juliette distances herself from everyone in the compound. But, war with the Reestablishment is coming. To survive they need her help, which means she must learn to work with others. Kenji trains her and, after spelling it out for her, pushes her to open up and form friendships.

This was a great mid-trilogy story. Juliette grew as a character, the state of the world is revealed to readers, and the war has begun. I am not a big fan of love triangles and this one is verging on a quadrangle, which is infinitely more distressing. But, I'm very anxious for the final installment, Untitled and I'm saddened to learn it's not expected out until Feb 2014. In the meantime, I still have Destroy Me (#1.5) to read.

False Memory (False Memory, #1) by Dan Krokos
Space/Color: 32 Blue
Finished: Feb 15,13
Rating: 4.5 stars

Review:False Memory by Dan Krokos is the first book in his new teen sci-fi action adventure series about 4 teens grown by the goverment to be weapons. I really enjoyed this book, it had non stop action form beginning to end and so many twists and turns you had no idea who was who or who to believe. The story ends at a natural stopping point, so for anyone wanting to read this there is no cliff hanger ending to worry about. On top of all the sci-fi stuff that is going on the characters are very well developed and complicated as each one is trying to figure out their part in the story. The next book comes out in August of this year and I can't wait to read it, I think this series will only get better as each additional book comes out and I'll be eager for each one!
