Mesu Hi y'all!
Just wanted to say "thanks" to Crystal for inviting me to the group. Looks like a fun place! I write biblical fiction for Revell, and my third novel, Love in a Broken Vessel (the story of Hosea and Gomer) releases March 1.

I love to read anything in the biblical era, whether it's a specifically biblical character or not. Looking forward to reading Carla Capshaw's books. Are there other LIHs I should check out in this genre?

Hi Mesu and welcome to the group! Right now a lot of u are up in the party discussion, but I'll let them know they can find you here.

I write Regency-set inspirationals and have written medieval secular historicals, but that's as far back as I've gone. I do enjoy reading a good Biblical-set story, though. My favorite book ever is Norah Lofts's How Far to Bethlehem?

Melissa (mblisa) | 305 comments Hi Paula-o! I try to stop by as often as I can. =)
My birthday is September 5th.

message 19: by Hannah (new)

Hannah Alexander (hannahalexander) | 59 comments Hey, girls. I also loved Francine Rivers' Mark of the Lion trilogy. I've discovered another author who writes Biblical fiction, Jill Eileen Smith. It just happened that I judged her book in a contest, and she got my vote, won the unpubbed category, and went on to publication. So Mesu and others, I look forward to reading these!

Hannah -- how fun that is that you judged the author's book and then she became published! You have a good eye.

Hannah Alexander (hannahalexander) | 59 comments LOL, I just knew what I liked, and this one was not to be missed. Her words rose to the top.

Hannah I think I have read her work, name sounds familiar, interesting that you got to judge her work, I have done that before on few books. It is always good to find new authors that you like...

message 24: by Hannah (new)

Hannah Alexander (hannahalexander) | 59 comments Exactly, Paula. We all have such varying tastes that I think it's helpful to look for other books by the same author if you like the first one in a series. I do recommend Jill. Her writing flows, and I know she does a lot of research.

message 25: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Vanscoyoc Hello! I'm new here, so I'm not quite sure what we're talking about, but I think I heard someone mention birthdays? I thought I might at well add my oddball one into the mix - my birthday is Feb. 29th. Yes, I know. :)
If we're discussing books that's right up my alley - I'm a total book addict (something I don't suffer from). :)

message 26: by Paula-O (new)

Paula-O (kyflo130) | 2257 comments Welcome Sarah, you can comment on anything you want, I am keeping tally of the birthdays and we have virtual parites and lots of fun. can we celebrate yours on 28th?
once a month we have LIH authors that come and talk about their books (3-4 authors) and the grp ask any questions they want or comments to the author. Deborah usually host this.
visit from time to time and see all the things we do on LIH...

Sure! We usually do it on the 28th or March 1st - whichever works better for us, so feel free to move it to whatever day you want. :)
Sounds like fun! I love the Love Inspired Historical books, so it'll be great to ask the authors questions (I always have some)!
