Don't need to know every little thing cause then I start imaging it and all the faults become glaringly obvious, "how the heck did his leg get there???" it just pulls you right out of the story.

Yes, I remember years ago, I went on a binge of reading all the books written by one author - in a row. Big Mistake. I discovered all her sex scenes were almost identical...and long. First time I ever started flipping through the pages.

I wonder if we're talking about the same author? I simply gave up on her. It was just too much.

Could be. Are her initials SL?

However, I take a lot of consideration on how those sex scenes are written. Some are so explicit and gratuitous, that I felt it was put in for shock value or whatnot.
There are also other books that have sex scenes, but are written so well that they're not explicit and still conveys the sensuality and sexiness of the scene. But that's just me...lol

Yes, if the writer has me involved in the characters, I find the sex scenes are hotter and have more chemistry, doesn't matter about how explicit they are. Gotta have chemistry.

Lol, I know who you're talking about ;) Yea, they are repetitive!

Yes.

For mainstream romance books I like to have at least 2 really good sex scenes but it depends on the story. If its thrown in there because the author had to fill a half dozen pages with something then it probably won't work for me. It has to feel natural. I read a book once where the heroine's car got blown up and then she turns around and has sex with the hero. What? I'd be freaking out and calling law enforcement or something.
I've read some great books that had no sex in them at all and didn't feel like I missed anything. I guess I'm saying it needs to work with the story and be somewhat believable.
