The finkel book was called "Babylon City of Wonders".

EDIT: the data is confused. Even the Amazon link you gave has the paperback as The Ancient Olympic Games by Judith Swaddling, while the hardback is listed as Babylon: City of Wonders by Irving Finkel

Several sites have the same mix of titles. I ave to go out now, I'll finish this later unless someone else does it.
