Kat's Big Book List for 2009
Oh my gosh, I just tried to flag this so I could find it easily and then I just realized on here that is bad. I'm not sure if I did it or not. If so, OOPS and sorry!
Robin wrote: "These are from March alone? Or what you remember reading so far this year??"I can vouch for reading these in 2009. Haha can you imagine? I would never remember anything I read that fast!
I decided to go back and think through what I'd read that I knew of in 09 so far starting from January, and I came up with very little! I'm so glad that I have this new library love helping me to conquer my not finishing books, because I don't like that I've finished so little in this new year! :) That will have to change. :) (I can feel a reading binge coming on. :))
But I should be at 25 by the end of March to be on target, and I don't see getting through 4 books this week!
I know there is about a 2% chance that I get 100 this year, but it's fun to keep track anyway. :) I think that 50 is a more reasonable goal for me, actually.
22. Inventing Wonderland: The Lives and Fantasies of Lewis Carroll, Edward Lear, J.M. Barrie, Kenneth Grahame and A.A. Milne
You are so going to hit 100 this year! You just need to have 5 more by the end of June to be half way done!I am at half of that, so think I will hit 52, which isn't good in terms of the 100 book challenge, but I'm happy with it for me. I think one book a week is a good goal to have each year. :)
Good job, reader-extraordinaire! :)
The Arrival
I cannot in fairness count it toward the 100, as it has almost zero text. But I still wanted to remember it as part of my year's reading. :)
Response to #41: Yay! How'd you like it?
Response generally: Damn girl, good job!

Very interesting. I guess, if anything, I wanted it to be even weirder? I'm not quite sure. It was beautiful though, without a doubt.
Would have been cool had it been weirder, definitely --something like Chris Van Allsburg's books, the sort of uncanny nature of objects?
I thought Tan's book captured the WTF-ness of being in a foreign place well though.

I agree - although what is the deal with the little familiars? If anime has taught us anything, its that there are cute cats as pets all over the world. Why should it be strange for there to be pets? They were awesome - I really liked them, and I liked that they seemed like the soul animals in Pullman books, but it made no sense from a 'foreign-ness' perspective. Cats would look like cats no matter where you immigrated from, is I guess my point.
Incidentally, I loved the kitchen/batch implements. Almost steampunky.
