Fran | 12271 comments I finished Gone Country, Breann's pick for me and our buddy read. I liked it, thanks for the rec Breann! It was much better than the past few LJ Rough Riders for me. It was fun to revisit the bazillion McKays and Wests :)

Sounds good to me, ~KarenH~. we can totally do that. :)

I'm going to try to read Dragon Bound before we start Fix You

I don't have the audio so I'm reading it.

Jim son of Jim (formerly PhotoJim) (jim_formerly_photojim) | 5294 comments Read my first pick of the month over the weekend - Seduction and Snacks (Chocolate Lovers, #1) by Tara Sivec . It was fun. I may not have loved the romance but I loved the heroine. She may not be the best mother ever but has my sense of humor.

I don't know... the kid's got toys, food, shelter, friends, and everything a four year old needs. He's doing better than a lot of kids.

I thought she was doing pretty good for herself, with a great support system around her. Sure, her mouth ran away with her and sure she had the frustrations of someone burdened with such responsibility at such an age, but she definitely loved her kid. :D

message 564: by Ty (new)

Ty | 1943 comments Sooooooo, I started Exquisite (Exquisite, #1) by Ella Frank last night.

I lasted 4 chapters. Which I thought was incredibly brave of me (if I do say so myself). I just couldn't handle the misspellings, bad grammar, and the unforgivable, unholy lack of comma usage. It was like nails on chalkboard for me.... Plus the heroine came off a heinous beeotch.

BUT, I have started No Place to Run (KGI, #2) by Maya Banks . Talk about hottie on a stick. Two chapters in and I'm already hooked. Definitely off to a great start so far.

So, no worries, Katie, the balance of the world is still good. haha.

Uggh, I hate the editing issues. It's so frustrating for me and I can't enjoy a book when they are bad. I agree that it was incridibly brave of you to keep at for 4 chapters.

It's such a shame though because the book sounds good.

Lol! Good to hear, Ty! I haven't read either of those books, but I'm glad I know to avoid Exquisite now. :)

I finished up Joey's First Time today. It was ok...kinda typical Carol Lynne. Honestly, I was more interested in the m/m/f couple than the m/m. Thanks for the pick!

Yeah, it's kinda scary when you think of all the published authors out there who need so much help on the editing end. Makes you wonder how many writers can actually... write...

Katie - No Place to Run (KGI, #2) by Maya Banks turned out great! Nice, action-packed, exhilarating story. I'm loving this series.

message 570: by Jane (PS), Moderator (new)

Jane (PS) | 24334 comments Yz - I think this is a record for me! I've just finished a third pick from your recs. Wes and Toren - 3.5 stars. I can't say I loved it, but I certainly enjoyed the time spent reading it. It was like reading a slice of life (a couple's life, from meet through to solid committment) - nothing earth-shattering etc, but a nice quiet read. Thanks for the push!

message 571: by SandyC (new)

SandyC (sandyc88) | 1287 comments I finished one of my picks, City of Fallen Angels (The Mortal Instruments, #4) by Cassandra Clare . I liked this one much better than the first three. There is more focus on Simon and other characters and less on Jace and Clary. Jace and Clary bore me!

Oh Yay! MK!! I'm glad you've liked your picks. I was hoping that you enjoyed yours as much I enjoyed mine that you had done for me.

I'm on my way to start Fix You now. ~KarenH~ has given me a ton of good recs this month and I got sucked into Dragon Bound!

message 577: by Sassafrass (new)

Sassafrass (sass-a-frass) | 4192 comments ok ~KarenH~

Here's what I've read so far:
Tart (Delicious, #2) by Lauren Dane --so yummy! PUN definitely intended. LOL I'm really enjoying this series. Plus even better, I've got an ARC for the 3rd book in the series, so I'm going to be reading that soon. :)

Jealous And Freakn' (Freakn' Shifters, #2) by Eve Langlais --such a cute story. I love when unrequited love is finally realized. But it also has menage in it when makes the story even better. I know you said that you wanted to read this series, and I really think you should. Eve Langlais knows how to blend the erotic with the perfect amount of snark. I love laughing with my smexy books.

One Reckless Summer (Destiny, #1) by Toni Blake --OMG, what a great recommendation. I totally fell in love with Mick. You were so right, he was definitely a misunderstood bad boy. I was very surprised at how good (not to mention STEAMY) this was. I'm definitely going to continue with this series. Thanks again for this rec!

Down to You (The Bad Boys, #1) by M. Leighton --Not sure how I feel about this one. While I thought the concept was hot, the execution didn't do it for me that much. I just couldn't related to heroine not knowing who she had in her bed. But it was super hot. So, as I saw I'm mixed on that one. But, you know, I'm still going to continue with that series.

Dragon Bound (Elder Races, #1) by Thea Harrison --another rec that was right on! I loved this. How great was Pia at handling Dragos. Such a great series, I just fell into it. Thanks for the great rec. And even though I need another series like I need a hole in my head, I'm going to continue with this one. I won't be able to stay away!

I'm still planning to read:
The Locker Room by Amy Lane
Fix You (Second Chances, #1) by Mari Carr
Game for Seduction (Bad Boys of Football, #2) by Bella Andre

and I'm really going to try to get to:
Gabriel's Inferno (Gabriel's Inferno #1) by Sylvain Reynard

Are you listening on audio? I know you said that the narrator was good. I was thinking about getting the next one on audio.

MountainKat | 31587 comments Sassafrass wrote: "Are you listening on audio? I know you said that the narrator was good. I was thinking about getting the next one on audio. ."

I'm planning on it. I really enjoy this series in audio. I am having a hard time with audiobooks right now since I am still recovering and can't do much. I'm not falling asleep all the time like I was a couple of weeks ago so I have high hopes I will be able to listen without switching over to reading.

ETA: It is too bad we can't lend audiobooks like we can lend Kindle or Nook books!

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) | 1934 comments Carrie, I finished another of your picks and I really enjoyed it. I read Lord of Fire and Ice by Connie Mason and despite the slightly cheesy cover it was pretty good. I will definitely read another by this author. Thanks for the picks!!

I started my second book: On Dublin Street (On Dublin Street, #1) by Samantha Young . So far I'm enjoying it much more than I expected to. After being disappointed with Fifty Shades of Grey (Fifty Shades, #1) by E.L. James (I struggled to the halfway point and finally put it back on my TBR to finish later.), I was afraid Dublin wouldn't live up to the hype.

~KarenH~ | 11328 comments I finished my first pick, Seducing Jane Porter, and it was just ok for me. I didn't realize until after I'd started it that it was the first installment in a serial, and I'm not a fan of those. If I think of it as just the first few chapters of a book it was pretty good, good enough that I would probably continue if I had the rest of the serial on hand, but I don't feel the need to run out and pick them up to finish it!

Thanks for nudging me to get it off my TBR, Laura! I'm hoping to read one or two more picks before the end of the month.
