Karyn walked down the steps of the subway station and passed through the checkpoints. Her bag was slung over shoulder, and her jacket didn't do a good job of hiding her eye catching hair like she wanted it to do. She stood by the loading area waiting for the subway to arrive. Normally, she would walk, but she was in a bit of a hurry. Subway stations were always so public: she was worried that someone would recognize her. She looked ahead and saw the subway lights coming towards her.
The subway stopped in front of her and the doors opened outward for her and the other passengers. People filled in, and so did she. She sat herself down in one of the few seat available while the other people held onto the rails and pole offered. The subway lurched forward and she sighed in relief. She looked up when she saw a guy standing up at close the exit on the far left: he was looking at her. She looked away.
The subway lurched to a stop and people crowded around the doors waiting for them to open. She looked over at the guy waiting for him to get up as well, but he didn't. He hadn't moved, and neither had she. When the doors opened, she quickly got up and joined the people leaving in a hurry. She weaved her way through the crowd as fast as she could. She didn't bare to turn around and see if he was following.
She made it into the public restroom at the station and hurried over to one of the sinks. She heard the sound of shoes against the tiled floor, and she looked up. It was the same guy as before in the train. She took a step away from the sink and stood to face him now. He pulled his hand out from behind his back and pointed the gun he had at her. He gestured for her to get down on her knees. She dropped her bag down and slowly eased down. She didn't look away from his face, so she saw his smug grin. It wouldn't be like that. She screamed her most powerful scream and it echoed off the walls, so he couldn't escape it even if he tried. The mirror in the bathroom shattered, and the guy dropped the gun as he fell down covering his ears tightly. Slowly, blood seeped through his fingers. SHe didn't stop screaming as she stood up on her feet and grabbed her bag. She stood over him now and stopped screaming. He watched her look up at her with a pained and confused expression. "I know what you're thinking. You weren't expecting that. But, someone told you to come after me." She kicked the gun away from his hand. "They didn't tell you everything". She screamed again and this time, blood dripped out of his nose and there was a sudden gush of blood on his blue shirt where his heart would be. He was dead. She left the restroom and then left the subway station. She defintely didn't want to stay.
Polaris walked to the subway and just sat down. She covered her face with her purple hair and read a book.
Polaris finished the book and looked around. She stood up and left.
