...Amen

This is a great book. I loved the style and the constant guessing where the story's gonna go next! Anyone know when the second one comes out?

I agree. It was there for a reason. To show more about who Juliette is and to describe her inner-most thoughts in a different way. If it is told in 1st person as her, then why not make it like a diary? It would seem more her to be that way. Some of the storyline seemed a little cheesy, but for the most part it was a decent YA to read.

I loved it! That writing style was amazing- and although I know the idea of fatal life-sucking skin isn't that original, the way the author demonstrated the characters personality through those trials was just amazing. And although some of you didn't like the crossing out- I think it really added to Juliette's character. About how she had been on her own for almost a whole year, speaking to no one, how she had convinced herself that maybe she was insane- all that was reinforced through the striking of the text. It was like being inside an insane (heck, even a normal!) persons head- what we say is not always what we mean.
But I have to admit, I loved the beginning, but I agree with Diemmi147- the ending just kinda trailed off. As soon as Warner was out of the picture, everything turned lovey-dovey and there wasn't much of the plot left. Yeah I get it, all her life she hasn't been able to touch anyone and suddenly she can- but the action and intrigue levels were off the charts at the start, stayed there in the middle, then dwindled off towards the end before a minor excitement rise again. The second book I REALLY enjoyed though.

Yeah, I understand what you meant. I already got the image of a fragile girl at the beginning, but then suddenly she turned into Rose Hathaway. Not that I have anything against the change. It's cool, but the switch was just too fast. I can't even blame it on the adrenaline charge. :))
