Aimee Juarez The book was okay, but the story line was strange. It was about a girl that had been locked up for a long time because she got taken away from her parents. Whenever someone touched her they died, unless they were immune to her touch.

Annie I thought it was actually good! But in the beginning and forafter, I got a little sidetracked, before I finally knew what was happening. Like, seriously! Anyways, I hated how the author made everything in a diary lookin' type of way. Y'know, with the whole x-ing out sort of thing? I wanted to bang my head. It was obnoxious. Was anyone else feeling like they needed to murder the freaking author? tear the book in half? I felt really really angry. angry enough that I would've made my great grandmother deaf. It was pointless, obnoxious, and unnecessary. I mean, this isn't in a diary font! So please. why'd you add in the X'es? I think I might murder a puppy now. I need to calm down now.

...Amen

Snowballina I actually thought that the crossing out added to the main character because it showed how she doubted herself and it added more to the book in general

This is a great book. I loved the style and the constant guessing where the story's gonna go next! Anyone know when the second one comes out?

I agree. It was there for a reason. To show more about who Juliette is and to describe her inner-most thoughts in a different way. If it is told in 1st person as her, then why not make it like a diary? It would seem more her to be that way. Some of the storyline seemed a little cheesy, but for the most part it was a decent YA to read.

Ginny I'm sorry, but I hated this book. The author just gave Rouge from the x-men a different name and a diary. It was like a poorly written picture-less Marvel comic. I really hated the crossed out words, but I understand the motivation of the author there. Also, gentle is not and will never be a verb. You cannot gentle something, okay? Who edited this thing?

Mimi ❤ It was an entertaining book for the most part. But the ending was just... ok. No.

Bianca Well, I loved this book and loved Unravel me even more!!! One of my favorites!!!

Nellie ☾ The only thing I thought was unnecessary was the constant repetition of the same word in a sentence, like how Jeuliette said that James was "sound sound sound asleep" or the "I want to be angry angry angry" like one sound or angry would've been fine, but oh well. The beginning was too slow for me but I kinda liked the end. I'm reading Unravel Me right now and I think it's tad better than Shatter Me :D

I didn't like it at all. :/

marina I loved the book all together.

diemmi147 At first, it was enthralling; but as it progressed further and further, my interest vaporised to nothing.

I loved it! That writing style was amazing- and although I know the idea of fatal life-sucking skin isn't that original, the way the author demonstrated the characters personality through those trials was just amazing. And although some of you didn't like the crossing out- I think it really added to Juliette's character. About how she had been on her own for almost a whole year, speaking to no one, how she had convinced herself that maybe she was insane- all that was reinforced through the striking of the text. It was like being inside an insane (heck, even a normal!) persons head- what we say is not always what we mean.

But I have to admit, I loved the beginning, but I agree with Diemmi147- the ending just kinda trailed off. As soon as Warner was out of the picture, everything turned lovey-dovey and there wasn't much of the plot left. Yeah I get it, all her life she hasn't been able to touch anyone and suddenly she can- but the action and intrigue levels were off the charts at the start, stayed there in the middle, then dwindled off towards the end before a minor excitement rise again. The second book I REALLY enjoyed though.

Yeah, I understand what you meant. I already got the image of a fragile girl at the beginning, but then suddenly she turned into Rose Hathaway. Not that I have anything against the change. It's cool, but the switch was just too fast. I can't even blame it on the adrenaline charge. :))

Sarri The stroking X on the words made it UNIQUE. so I think it was great. it isn't bad to be different. it isn't awful to not be following the way of writing of every other books we've read.
