Ella James | 9 comments The current red and white 'cover' for Stained, by Ella James, is not a real cover. It was put up as a place-holder type of cover the first day I uploaded Stained. During the time that it was up on Amazon, not a single person bought Stained. I've asked several times here in this forum for someone to please remove this image. It confuses people who've bought the book, because the cover they bought looks nothing like that white image with the red stain. I would very much appreciate it if someone could remove that image. Last time I asked, one of the librarians told me you don't like to delete old cover images, because the readers who bought the book when its cover was the old image image may be confused as to what version they read. Well, I'm here to tell you that you can rest assured, no one read the book when it had that red and white cover! ;) Also, FYI, you can update an ebook file a thousand times and leave the cover just the same, so while Stained has had three covers, there are actually about 20 different version of the book. I would prefer it if the current cover image was the only one pictured. I can't imagine that this would confuse readers. Surely everyone knows that books get new covers sometimes... I actually got a new cover just today and would love it if this could be the primary cover featured when you pull up my book. I don't want two or three versions of the book based on old covers, as that isn't accurate anyway (a new cover doesn't mean a new book), and this way when readers see my book on listopia lists, etc., they will know it's Stained and vote for it, etc. Please help!!! I have asked this question several times already and always end up with several different 'versions' of my book and a bunch of different covers. FYI, the new cover is my current profile picture. Thanks in advance. This issue has been bugging me for MONTHS!

Regardless of whether it was ever sold with that cover, you have just confirmed that it was for sale with that cover. So it stays.

However, GR recently added the ability for authors to manually change their book's default edition. See http://www.goodreads.com/help/show/31...

Ella James | 9 comments Technically, it was offered free w/ that cover. Not trying to be a pain, just saying...

Ella James | 9 comments There is currently no edition with the correct cover, since I just got the new cover today. (It's my profile picture). If someone could set one up that features this new cover, that would be awesome. Also, I sure do wish I understood the rule that says if a book was ever on Amazon w/ a given cover, the cover must stay. I'm the author and I don't wish for that cover to be featured here on Goodreads, as it was free for the first few days via Amazon's KDP, so not even actually for *sale*... Why can't I have it deleted if I want? Again, not trying to be a pain, this just seems very strange, as it is my book, and I never intended for that image to be a cover at all. If I had known that by uploading something for two days to Amazon to serve as a placeholder, I was ensuring that the image was NEVER removable from Goodreads, obviously a very important review site, I would NEVER have done it!!! :(

Banjomike | 5166 comments Added the new cover as a second alternate edition. If you set that one as the primary edition you should be OK.

Banjomike | 5166 comments As to why the red one must stay, that cover is clearly "in the wild":

Goodreads just likes to keep the old covers so that any member who has a book can shelve the one they own or even the one that they like best. I don't understand why that is so hard to accept.

Banjomike | 5166 comments I've reverted the unnecessary (and not allowed) cover change by Charles Sheehan-Miles.
