Lakelady | 4 comments I am trying to find an old time-travel book that I read years ago. It involves an women who comes from the future to current time. All I can remember is that in the future, paper is very valuable because most of the trees are gone. She is an historian I believe and she comments that the future knows more about the very distant past than about the 20th Century since currently a lot of data is stored on digital devices that can no longer be read/accessed; earlier history is preserved on paper and of course can still be read. I think that at the end, she stays here in the past but somehow manages to send a ream or two of paper into the future - maybe burying it under a building that is currently being built but that she knows is being torn down in her time? Can anyone help me find the title of this book? Thank you.

Jojo | 18 comments Was this a book by Linda Howard called Killing Time - it sounds similar but there was a time capsule in it as well and some murders.

Lakelady, are you still looking for this? Was it "Killing Time?"

Serendi I think it probably is Killing Time, as Jojo said.

Aerulan | 1317 comments I'm going to third the Killing Time suggestion. The paper being extremely valuable in the future and her hiding a ream of it in the foundation of a building to be found centuries later by her family after she decides to stay in the past bit it pretty distinctive and that definitely takes place in Killing Time.

Thank you for the suggestion of Killing Time but that is definitely not the book that I am searching for. Looks like it might be good, so I will check that one out in any case.

Serendi Wasn't one of my favorite Howard novels, but YMMV...

Lakelady, if you're still looking, around what year did you read this book?

What do you remember about the hero or where she arrived in the past?

Did she travel using a time machine or by some kind of accident?

Lakelady | 4 comments I just read Killing Time as several of you suggested and I enjoyed it. It is so similar to the one that I was thinking of but could not remember. Maybe it is my memory that is at fault, but I am still not 100% sure that it is the same one as I read originally. Thanks for all the advice.

Mona Good | 1 comments I am also looking for this book. I don't think killing time is the book we are looking for. In the future cotton and paper are very expensive only the rich can afford.
