Why Morpheus is Better than Jeb
I shall be posting fanart (most likely) on Monday!

Morph is my fave, he's my wallpaper on my iPad now, actually XD
Which brings me to an interesting story-
I actually put Morph on my iPad the beginning of the school year, when I was doing volleyball. It had this weird effect on me so that whenever I turned on my iPad, I'd just start grinning insanely and really happily no matter what had happened, even when we'd lost a game.
Beat that, Wheels.
:)

Jeb: "*code for I have serious lust issues*" *smooch*
Alyssa: OMG HE'S WARM
Morpheus: "*code for 'I'm trying to help you, luv*"
Alyssa:*smooch*...I'M FLYING. FORGET JEB I'VE JUST LOST CONTROL
I personally think Morpheus can kiss MUCH better than Jeb XD
I was just going through the posts in this thread and found this one ;) Dahanci, may I just hug you? It was the BEST. KISS. EVER. I reread that scene like a gazillion times already. Now tell me, anyone, how can anything ever compare? Jeb? Jeb who?

Well, I'm slowly going to start counting off my points as to why Morpheus is better than Jeb. I'll try to keep my wilder emotions in check, mostly, but so you just know, Jeb and I are better off when we are light-years apart from each other ;)
Okay, my first point. Jeb won't let me enjoy reading Splintered to the full extent. Because every time Alyssa was going to do something relevant to the plot, Jeb would hold her back, jerk her around or shut her up. It was really frustrating. I mean, here I was, reading a story about Wonderland and this mysterious winged guy just appeared and I was waiting for some grand adventure and enticing romance to happen, and every time Jeb tried to snatch it all away from me. "Alyssa, don't go here, don't go there, no touching, no looking, let's wrap you in a blanket like a newborn baby and keep you safe." Ugh, I should probably stop, because here I go again. This guy brings out the worst in me.
Morpheus, on the other hand, made this book happen. Both books, actually. He was the driving force behind the plot. He made the reading exciting and just plain interesting. He is the heart of Wonderland and it's soul. He IS Wonderland. And can we all take a moment to marvel how CLEVER that guy is? You say manipulative? I say a GENIUS MASTERMIND! No wonder his other name is the Wise One. Truly, a very fitting name. Because just imagine how he plotted everything ahead, trying to make all the pieces fit into his scheme. The grandness of it all. Just WOW. I'm sure he would have been a chess game champion in the real world.
Yes, it wasn't very noble of him to use so many other people and creatures to reach his goal, but he gets my unwavering respect for his common sense. The guy wanted to live, not to be a slave to the curse anymore. He didn't want his spirit to be eternally contained and tortured. I get that completely, and I don't hold it against him.
Which brings me to what probably bothers me the most about Splintered. Yeah, that would be Jeb's sacrifice. But I'm going to talk about next time. Soon-ish.
EDIT: If my post confused you as to why Morpheus is better than Jeb, the bottom line of my post is:
Is it were all Jeb and no Morpheus in the story, there would be no story to tell.
On the other hand, it it were only Morpheus and no Jeb at all, there would be no one to hold Alyssa back from her adventures and from the most chemistry-packed romance.

Since I'm late to the party and rereading the whole thread, I wanted to comment on this.
I read Splintered twice. The first time was last summer, and back then I wasn't so in love with Morpheus as I'm now (probably because I was out of my mind, but that is beside the point, LOL). In fact, after my first read I didn't know what to make of him and I didn't find him particularly sexy either. I just liked him as a character and I enjoyed reading about him. But all things considered, even back then I wanted Alyssa to choose Morpheus.
Because even before I ever met Morpheus in the book, I realized how much I couldn't stand Jeb. My apologies to Jeb fans and especially to the author, but I want to be blatantly honest about how I feel. Jeb is everything I DON'T like in a book boyfriend. So my hate for Jeb doesn't have anything to do with my love for Morpheus. With or without the mothman in the picture, my feelings for Jeb wouldn't have changed. And since I fell in love with Morpheus for real this year, after reading Unhinged, I admit, I started hating Jeb even more, because I feel extremely threatened, seeing how Jeb is on the cover and all. The only thing that will make me soften towards Jeb is if he steps down from this frustrating love triangle that is dragging me over coals and go on with his human (or even not human) life without Alyssa.

He lifts my hand and presses soft lips to my knuckles. “I always knew you would.” Then he smiles, his jewels glistening gold and bright.»

I love that! It's so perfect w/the quote. :) I have that picture on his pinterest board. That artist is amazing. ;)

I agree. That's kind of like I picture Morpheus. Sigh. I wish I could draw like that. LOL. If I'm happy with the final book, I'll probably learn to and make a whole lot of fan art. Because some episodes from both books are just begging to be rendered as some form of art. With quotes.

First thought- Oh crud, I've insulted someone. God help me.

OMK YES YOU CAN HAVE A HUG! AND THIS MOTHCAKE. AND MY LAMP. AND MY DRESSER. AND THIS DOLLHOUSE MY GRANDMOTHER GAVE ME WHEN I WAS EIGHT.
I especially love this part-"Alyssa, don't go here, don't go there, no touching, no looking, let's wrap you in a blanket like a newborn baby and keep you safe."
I have to agree with that XD
I was much happier when I thought (view spoiler)
And oh my god, that is an incredible image. I looked up the picture on Google, which is usually a lovely friend of mine, but it returned a Russian facebook page that I could not figure out even with Google Translate and my being Russian-American.
Does anyone have the author's page? Is that actually meant to be Morpheus, because he looks JUST LIKE HIM.
EDIT: From the translation, it appears to be the Mad Hatter, he says:
"Hello, Alice. I'm writing to you in April.... I make hats, but they are no longer worn. I'm not crazy... Dormouse lives in the sugar bowl... March Hare sitting at home, in March. Hurt... Cheshire still holds... desperate, remains glued to one smile. Rabbit caught in the circus. Ears waving. Caterpillar- Contains hangout...(couldn't translate the rest of the line, need to ask someone who can actually speak Russian) Bird... missing. Already searched everywhere - both horizontally and vertically, diagonally ransacked, but earned only a sullen author "hee-hee." You know, Alice ... I miss you. Writing letters. Do not get an answer. I don't drink tea - well, yes, it was tea, but it was not desirable... You probably grew up. That's very nice. Did you forget about us? And out of love? This letter - the last. No ink, and if you do not come, then all ... Goodbye.
- Mad Hatter
Seemed very sweet, I thought maybe someone here would like to read it.
Yay Natalia! I love your awesome posts :)
*relieved sigh*

It kind of makes them drunk, right(in a weird, hungry sort of way)? I feel like Morpheus would just be even more optimistic and merry than usual, and probably tell jokes until either Alyssa slaps him or he passes out.
Also, that should be something that completes the series. The first book was Alyssa, the second was Jeb, now-you're right- it's Morpheus' turn.
Wonderland probably has the best parties.

WE NEED MORE ACTIVITY HERE. YEAH IT'S THREE AM OVER HERE, BUT COME ON YOU GUYS.

I just had a new idea, and that would be MorpheusxJeb. Seriously, that might actually be a good idea. And just wondering, are you new on this group? I don't remember seeing you before.

You're hilarious XD
Nice to have more people like you join the group, specifically people who comment regularly and will engage others in conversation *AHEM* peoplepleasetalktomeimgoingtodie

Yes. I can see that text you mentioned (about the Hatter) if you give me a link. I need to go soon, but I'll be back later. We are in different time zones, it is noon in Moscow.
I'm just going crazy waiting for Ensnared. I'm torn between wanting to read it now and never wanting to read it at all. I'm scared so much.

Let's go with "reading it ASAP" XD
Here's the link- http://vk.com/you_dead_end
Just scroll down a bit, I'm using mainly Google Translate so my version sucks :S
And congrats on being the 333rd post on this thread :)
I still have to be impressed by the book: A.G. can literally write it in my least favorite POV and tense, and still make me love it. That's impressive. Anyway, the fanart should be up tomorrow. Both of Morpheus. I have to finish one of them though.

Yes! We're all waiting with bated breath.
*nudges slightly inactive mothlings* though some of us might be a tad dead ;)
Everyone! Wake up! Rejoice in the wonderfullness that will be Elvina's fanart!

Can't wait to see the art! I am 100% convinced that Splintered has the most talented fans, hands down. ;)

I agree with you guys, A.G. has impressive writing skills, and besides, who wouldn't want more Wonderland?
I want to make theories, but, as Elvina knows, the last time we spent nearly 2 months plotting and wrote over 4.000 posts in different threads, our ship sank like a freaking Titanic.
I still marvel that I can have hope.

I have to agree when it comes to Hope or Elvina, but not so much with me :P
...Which is why I SWEAR I have stuff to post, but my blog won't accept bmp images, so I've been spending all day transforming them into jpegs so they'll post.
*flips table*
I'm going to try to post the same day as Elvina, but I'd much rather see her awesomeness first :)

First thought- Oh crud, I've insulted someone. God help me.

You supporting MorpheusxJeb? That surprises me. I thought you didn't like Job.

Same! Poor Hattie~
And there are certain characters I dislike that I will ship in the name of yaoi. Also, they're such opposites it's always fun just to see them kind of bounce off each other- not to mention the fact that the main tension is because of the lovely Alyssa that both of them wants, so if they weren't in love with her, they'd be a good pairing. And rereading this paragraph, I think I must be drunk.

And I mainly dislike Jeb in regards to how he treats Alyssa. He has his good points.

I see now.

The very experience of falling in love is so fascinating and makes you feel all kinds of emotions with the heroine. Alyssa and Jeb robbed me of that experience, but I got it in spades with Alyssa and Morpheus.
The way Alyssa feels the attraction from the beginning. Morpheus is like a magnet pulling her in. Like gravity. The way she becomes confused as to why she should even care about another guy when she has Jeb. She tries to brush it off. She can't. The way she thinks she can stay in control while they kiss. She fails. She feels rattled about the way the kiss affected her. The way she admits to herself she wants him, even if she won't admit it to him. Yes, the more she tries to fight, the deeper she falls down the "rabbit hole". That is why, I think, she was always assuming the worst about Morpheus and painting him black - the last line of defense. Because the moment she started seeing good in him and his actions too, she could no longer resist. And then the prophecy totally burst the floodgates open. And she finally realized she cared beyond just wanting him physically. She won't say the words yet, but it is apparent she loves him too.

Did you mean my post? I'm team Morpheus for life, and I was actually trying to explain why I love him and Alyssa together and their chemistry. Or did I misread what you wanted to say?

*SPOILERS*
I just read that scene in the drainage pipe and after, and I have to say I agree with Morpheus. Again. About how Jeb got distracted from Alyssa by a mere phone call.
Because if it were Morpheus kissing Alyssa, I'm sure wild demons couldn't have dragged him away from her :P

I've read my favorite scenes eight times or so by now. . . .
Anyway, I think you're right about that. Though, I think we could make those wild demons a bit more vicious to the same result.

Well, I don't know about the painting him black thing. He will lie if it will advance his plans, so I think she's right to be suspicious sometimes.

He did, but so did she. Can you count how many times she lied during both books? Because I counted a lot. :) So even as liars, they fit together better.
@Elvina: I like your drawings )))
And manipulating people. . .I feel like Alyssa was sort of becoming to Jeb what Morpheus is to her.
And thanks, Natalia!

yeah i thought so too - the coloring borders on garish, which adds SO much to the slightly over the top and too alive, you know? and i love that tilt to her head. Her eyes open wide add to her innocence, which for some reason just adds to the insanity air about her. It's actually my favorite one ;)
