Why Morpheus is Better than Jeb

I'm not sure exactly how to explain it, but by loving Jeb already, she wouldn't be able to fall in love with him 'objectively. "
Interesting insight. But the "objectively" doesn't really apply to Al. It applies to the reader. Jeb and Al did fall in love. We as the readers, didn't get to see it happen, so it feels like it's been that way all along. But of course it wasn't.
It grew out of friendship, long before we dropped into the story. So, the readers are getting to see Morph and Alyssa dancing around one another, and that makes it more exciting from that perspective. Makes it seem more real because they're a part of the dance.
Jeb and Al had their dance, we just weren't privy to the behind the scenes like we are with Morpheus and Alyssa.
I think that's where the "objectiveness" comes in, because it makes a difference in how some people view their love and the authenticity of it, because they didn't get to see it unfold. Just my thoughts, from a writing/reading standpoint. ;)

Haha! You don't think Morpheus thinks with his pants? Com..."
Yes, I've mentioned this a few times on the threads.

I was just trying to point out that he definitely has an advantage, where he's not only romancing Alyssa, but the readers, too, if that makes sense?

Oh my goodness. I feel like Splintered has brought up so many interesting themes and points to ponder, I haven't a clue where to start. I love this.
I've just read The Moth in the Mirror, and that combined with the fact that we as the reader were not there to witness Jeb and Alyssa grow together...I had never even considered that.
I'm presently uncomfortably torn.

Okay. Someone please find me a (romantic-interest-neutral) wonderland-fitting curse @_@ I need to go write something involving Jeb and Alyssa to figure out the feels' here ;)

True. I kinda wish we had been able to see more of that.

Huh, that makes sense, since I was liking/considering trusting him and disapproving/getting suspicious of/getting ticked off at him at the same times Alyssa was most of the time.

Who's Finley again?

Oh, if you could only have seen Taelor in her true villainess role. She played a much bigger part in the original Splintered MS when it had a prom scene. She was EVIL at prom, and *that's* when Jeb saw the light and dumped her. I had to cut that scene because I cut all of Jeb's POV scenes to trim the MS. Which meant summing up what happened w/out making it too complicated. It was easier to just say he came back because he was worried about Alyssa and what she was going to do. If only I could share all those cut scenes with you. @.@ Maybe I will one day?

Yay! The best kind of reads are the ones that make you think and question! And please let me know if you write that fan fic. ;) I wants to read it. Even Dehanci wrote a cute AlXJeb one. I was proud of her for her martyrdom. :)

I did it again, too. I just haven't finished. But this time it was at least half-by accident and it gave Morph a chance.
And if Taelor is evil, let's see it! Apparently, he just straight-up dumped her on Alyssa's porch, at least that's what I got out of it. Then there was the whole mirror thing, and Jeb ended up in Wonderland uninvited, etc etc, but my point is that Taelor kind of seems the victim.

Quick question though, if you wouldn't mind clarifying. Jeb and Al met when she was 11 and he was 13; was there a specific age mentioned when Jeb's father died?
(Also, I've read conflicting posts and haven't had the time to skim through the entire first book yet; was the car crash a drunken car crash, or suicide?)

Don't mind a bit! A drunken car crash (page 26 in Splintered hardcover). Al was thirteen when he died, so Jeb was fifteen.

One of these days, after Ensnared, I'll have to do a cut scenes thread in the spoiler section. That would be fun!

YES. We would love some cut scenes <3

More of Jeb? Oh noes! There was already too much Jeb in the first published novella. Can we have more Morpheus this time, or just anyone else?
If you ever have a moment of free-time after Ensnared is published, can we just get a short scene with Morph on tumtum juice? Please?

Hmm Taelor the villain? That would be interesting to read. I kind of thought she was not so bad as she made it seem, just damaged and surely not beyond "redemption".

My favorite part of any romance story. I can never relate to relationships that were "before" the book even started. I need my "falling in love" feels.
And Morpheus and Alyssa have the most enticing love story. If only Alyssa was not so stubborn. But on the other hand, I'm happy it is not some insta-love on her part. I love to see how her feelings develop gradually and slowly, and she comes to realize she loves him too. I hope she will tell him one day.

Better yet, Morph AND Alyssa together on Tumtum juice. LOL

Heh. Yeah, if I ever have time, I can promise you that story. I'd like to see it myself. ;)

Yay! I would find such a story interesting myself.

I agree with that, but I must add that Morph's got exceptional skills regardless (and you as an author, of course, since you gave him life). I've read some romances that start from scratch, but remain blah all the same.
With Morpheus, however, everything is on fire. He really is the heart of the story, just as important as Wonderland itself. I've heard many people say that, while they missed the Wonderland parts in Unhinged, Morpheus very well compensated for that with his irresistible personality. Such characters as him are rare to come by in YA.

Jeb is detrimental to my health ;)
Aside from the fact that I don't like him as a character, he poises a threat to my happily ever after of Alyssa+Morpheus. Because the thing he said at the end of Unhinged : "You and me, we are far from over"? I was like "NOOOO!"
The only way he can gain a bit of my respect is if he goes back to the human realm and would let Alyssa be with her One True Match. Then, in retrospect, upon rereading the books, I will be slightly mollified, and maybe not so mad. Maybe.
But right now, one look at the cover and I start having anxiety attacks.

I see. So you believe that Jeb's career is more important to him than Alyssa. Interesting. I'll have to think about that.

I whole heartedly agree with this "my #1 reason for Team Morpheus ....................... the ENTIRE BOOK is (literally) DRIVEN by Morpheus!" !!! I just want to add : ENTIRE TWO BOOKS! Most people are not reading the books for Jeb, they are reading for Morpheus and Wonderland.
Aside from that fact (and it's a fact, guys, let's face it), there is a gazillion reasons why he is the better choice for Alyssa. I would find it offensive if Morph had to wait another 60 years for his turn, Infernal Devices style. When Alyssa asked him "To wait for a little while for their forever" I wanted to shake her. Because 60 years are NOT a little while and you can't expect from someone who loves you more than anything in the world to be okay with that. So screw that "ending up with both" variant. NO WAY! (Sorry, I got carried away again ;) Morpheus deserves better than this.

True, and you gotta forgive us readers for wanting it either :)
*sigh* This series is totally messing with my reading plans, as I currently can't get into any other books I'm reading

Well, of course we're reading for Wonderland. The books are *based* off of Alice in Wonderland. And I don't want her to choose both either. I mean, I am ok with her ending up with either, and I was happy at first, but I don't think it's Alyssa's nature to not end up committing fully to one of the other. Also, I think people in general, when they're in a relationship with someone, they deserve to have some one that has only them, and not share them with some other guy/girl.

|| Do not read if you haven't read Unhinged ||
Alyssa states in Unhinged, "I'm finding it difficult to hold a grudge when he was only trying to show me how strong I really am. When it's in fact what he always does."
*screams internally*
Can I just. Can I just point dramatically to his statement.
He was also a sweetheart to Rabid, when they were all in Alyssa's bedroom. Can you imagine how tender he'd be once Alyssa accepted the netherling side of herself , and accepted him?
I think we'd all be rather bitter if we knew what was best for another, knew they'd be happier that way, only to find that the person we love most in the world continues to deny themselves these facts and happiness.
...I should not be allowed the internet at one in the morning.

Girl, you are reading my mind. And I think so far THAT is the strongest argument of why Alyssa should stay friends with Jeb and end up with Morpheus! Also - Alyssa and Jeb on a date. His phone rings. It's from work. Jeb leaves. ... MORPHEUS DOESN'T HAVE A PHONE!

I would add: TWO BOOKS AND A NOVELLA!
Oh, and when she told him to wait a little while I got so nervous that I started screaming in frustration! My mind translated this line by it's own: Oh, Morph! I choose Jeb over you! You just wait there some 60 years, you know 60 years are nothing. You can even come and watch how we date, have sex, marry each other, buy a house in the villiage, have 5 kids and etc. And then, after I have no use of Jeb anymore, I'll come to you. You just wait there...
I mean... HOW WOULD SHE EVEN SAY THAT?!? Thank God Morpheus put her in her place! (Like always) But then again I remember my babes Ivory and her motherloving prophesy and her saying that: Something would happen in the future that will change your whole vision of Morpheus!
In another words: IVORY, BABES, I LOVE YOU!!!♡♡♡♡ #Ivoryrocks

|| Do not read if you haven't read Unhinged ||
Alyssa states in Unhinged, "I'm finding it difficult to hold a grudge when he was only trying to show me how strong I real..."
And when Alyssa have to left him with Sister 2! She said something like: With every step my heart was getting ripped!
I was practically beaming when she said it!!!

I know, right? I was burning with indignation at the thought of him having to watch her live with Jeb for another 60 years and wait patiently for his "turn". I mean, how DARE you say it to him??? You either love someone and stay with him, or you don't. You can't leave a person hanging for another half century because you have a chance at "two loves and two lives". Just no.
My absolute favorite thing from this blog post:
"Let me put it this way: if Alyssa needed to learn to fly, Jeb would tell her she couldn't do it and fly for her. Morpheus would push her off the cliff."
