Volumes - how to add books

Hello,

I have the following problem. THere is a number of books which were published in two parts (having two volumes) but also as single books. On the goodreads however they r often added as one book. How to solve this situation? Shoudl every book be added separately marked that this is volume 1 and volume 2? It is impossible to judge based oin their ISBN cause there were published w/o them (1970s).
To be precise I am speaking about Karol Bunsch books.

These days books like that usually get published (and read) separately for each piece, so you'll see a lot of existing records for parts of books, and those should not be combined with the existing book--if you see them that was, please separate them.

For older books, do you know if they were originally published as a set, like you might find a box set of a trilogy, or if they were just done as two books? If they were published as a set then a record could be created for the set (noted as "two volume set" in the edition field) and the set combined with the original one volume, but otherwise (or if you can't tell) they should be created separately and only combined with other half-book parts, if there are any others.

They r mostly published in two separate parts. Then - they should be added separately right? What about a situation if they were also published as a single book (it happened)?

I will correct them but so far I am waiting for my librarian request to be accepted :)

The editions of those books published as omnibuses should stay as that, and those editions which were seperate should be added individually. Regarding combining, once your request is through, only combine the ones that have completely identical content, i.e. omnibuses with omnibuses and lone titles with lone titles. Does that make sense?
