I agree, I love him as a character so much! But I think they are going to be just friends

I agree, they would make such wonderful friends! Especially since Celaena really bonds with him in CoM, and he's always there for her. It's really sweet that he'll always kinda have a little crush on her, but I really think she's put him behind her.

If Aelin chooses (Because according to SJM, we will get some hints in QOS about who Aelin wants to end up with) Rowan, I will be so upset ! They share something far better than romance. Anyone agrees with me ?
EDIT : Holly shit. (view spoiler)

I agree with you Sandra I feel like her future partner might have an issue with how close they are. Aelin would probably go to Rowan with a lot of her problems because of how well they understand and trust eachother.

However if Aelin does end up with someone else, as long as Rowan and her see each other everyday then I'm fine with anything tbh.

Have you already decided who Celaena will end up with? Did it change while you were writing the books or have you always known who it woul..."
Okay so am I the only one who thinks Maas' whole "outlining doesn't work for me as a writer" philosophy is a pretty shitty writing strategy?! This alarms me. I mean it doesn't exactly instill confidence... Just "letting it flow" can result in crappy character and plot evolutions!
Witness book 1 and 2 where the whole Dorian/Chaol/Celaena triangle developed--but it was so sloppily done! It was so freaking obvious that the author had originally planned for Dorian to be Celaena's main love interest and then BAM at some point someone changed their mind and did some major rewriting cause Celaena's suddenly all about Chaol (seems to come out of nowhere) to the point where she basically just dumps and ditches Dorian for no real reason! The author had spend so much time developing Celaena's relationship with Dorian that her totally abrupt breakup with Dorian made her seem extremely cold and at the time, it was out of character (or I thought so).
Anyways, Maas might be all about Rowan now, but I think Rowan is pretty much Tamlin from the Court of Thorns and Roses so maybe Mass has got it all out of her system with that book? Cause while I absolutely LOVE the idea of Celaena being with Rowan it's not going to happen people. He's immortal for one thing and for another, Maas was way too careful at keeping their relationship from turning romantic or sexual in any way. I mean I hate to say it, but Celaena is still all about the Chaol. Which sucks cause I can't stand Chaol (I'm sorry but his whole Lancelot act just irritates me).
I was team Dorian too but I've lost all hope on that front. I would rather Celaena ends up with her cousin Aidian than Chaol (good god ANYONE is better than Chaol). Yeah, I know it's not gonna happen but even the idea of incest is more appealing to me than Chaol at this point!
On another note, which of the leftovers do you think will be paired with Manon? I think she's awesome. Wouldn't mind seeing her with Rowan or even Aidian (though he's not immortal) but I don't think Dorian could handle her.

I hold on to the hope that now that Celaena has changed to Aelin that maybe she will eventually go back to Dorian, suddenly realising she had loved him all along. The task to free him from he collar will hopefully add to this development, and I sure hope it comes true. I stick to the initial inspirations of the entire series, it was initially inspired by Cinderella and in the original version Celaena ends up with prince Dorian. Anything can happen yet in this series with two books to go, so let's just see what happens.

I would like to see them end up together too! I feel like it's only fitting considering their countries need to be brought together after all that's happened) but I have no hope. Someone on this thread quoted the author in an interview where she advised her readers to consider her original story not as an original story but as a different story entirely and not to look to it for clues as to who Celaena will end up with.
As for her being immortal I don't think she's fae enough for that (isn't she like 1/8?) unless maybe she decides to stop being human entirely? Rowan claimed at one point that Celaena had no chance with his friends bc they wouldn't see her as worth the trouble to court considering her comparatively short lifespan, so I don't think it has anything to do with the lack of magic in her land. I was thinking though, that maybe her whole magic bond with Rowan might possibly make her as immortal as him bc he made references to having to hunt down old pairings like that where people were still enslaved or whatever. You could be right too though as this author obviously likes to keep her options open.

You are right. The immortality thing is a huge problem. We don't know anything. Do you think an immortal can become mortal ? Like he "abandons" his immortality ?

I don't think the age difference between Rowan and Aelin is a big factor, Lexie. I mean, they are not human, they are creatures, and they work differently so human rules are really not their thing. Though I understand why it may be a problem for many people.
I think we all know the immortality thing is very important right now, and Sarah has said we will find out if Aelin is immortal or not at some point in later books! I strongly think she is though. I think in HoF was mention immortality can be taken away from a Fae, since Maeve took the immortality from her sisters when they decided to get with humans.

Honestly, I don't want her to be immortal.

Haha, same here ;) We just want Dorian to be happy, right ?

Wow. That really hit hard, especially since I ship them so so much. But when he met Sorshca things just went bam! He was staring to become a mature man, he actually LOVED Sorshca ( I am starting to get the feeling him being with Celaena was just a cry out for help or something and there was nothing... There, like no chemistry). Then you know what happened to her...
Doriana is still my ship though. Even if there is a slim chance of them being something. When he admitted he wasn't really in love with her in HoF I think thats when I began to lose hope. He still cares about her. But not in the way we all want him to :(

It's okay Lexie! You can ship whoever you want so it's fine. Ah,yeah, I think if any of the main characters die I'm going to hide in a cave and keep reading in a river full of my tears.
Mirou wrote: "Honestly, I don't want her to be immortal."
That's fine too, but I still think she will. Maybe she'll kill Maeve and take her immortality? Who knows? lol

And I don't remember who said that, but I don't think she's partly fae, she just have an unusual animal form.

I thought maybe it was a "slow burn" type situation too but to me it really seems like the author changed her mind. It seemed like both Dorian and the author were totally over the idea of him and Aelin as a couple in HoF---:(
I mean the way Dorian instantly fell so deeply in love with Sorcha (ugh gag me I did not like this!) doesn't exactly bode well for more romance between him and Aelin. For one thing, his ship with Sorcha only seemed to reinforce the idea that Dorian is prone to falling in "love" with whoever happens to be his girl of the moment and that his relationship with Aelin was just dallying.
Which sucks bc I really DO think the author did a great job developing both Dorian and his relationship with Aelin early in the 1st bk---only to abruptly change her mind. I felt cheated by this. I feel like if Maas waits any longer to redevelop their romantic relationship I'm not sure I'd be able to find it satisfying even if Aelin does end up with him (like if Aelin just abruptly decides that Dorian is her man in the last book I will be pissed!). They had such a good thing going in the first book but then POOF! It was like it never happened after she dumped him!
As for Aelin being immortal I don't think the author has decided what she wants yet (that's what happens when you don't outline). Maas never been clear on whether Aelin's fae form is her "animal" form or whether her human form is her "animal" form (or that's what it seemed like to me).
On another note I want to see Chaol hook up with Manon. She's probably the only one capable of prying that gigantic stick out of his ass.

Ah, well, Sarah obviously changed her mind about Dorian haha. I think it's because she felt like it wasn't the best for Aelin. It's okay to still want them together though. She has said she hates outlining because then she has to stick to certain plan and for her that's not right.
About Aelin's forms... her animal form is her human form. Her fae form is just slightly different with pointed ears, fangs and a few inches taller.
Chaol and Manon? lol that could be one interesting pairing hahaha.

Damn right it's okay! Lol, I think they'd be perfect together but Sorcha kinda ruined Dorian for me. Like when Dorian decides that maybe he just "thought" he was in love with Aelin I was like wtf where did this come from? You WERE in love with her! But whatever, Maas can let it flow if she wants.
Anyways, are you sure Aelin's human form is her animal form? I honestly couldn't tell from the way it's written, but I hope you're right. I thought Aelin's animal form was supposed to be her human-form at the end of CoS (or the very beginning of Hof- i can't remember) but then it seemed like the author started being deliberately unclear about it in HoF. Like after Aelin starts working in the kitchen with all the other demi-fae and then she finally gets used to her fae-form it seemed as if Aelin's animal form was actually supposed to be her fae-form from the way they all reference it (including her and Rowan), so I was confused about that.

And about Manon, there are some hints about her and an unexpected person in QOS [I was like "WTF?" while I was reading] and well, I didn't see THAT coming !
Two days left girls !

And about Manon, there are some hints about her and an unexpected person in QOS [I was like "WTF?" while I was reading] ..."
I'm so jealous you've already read it! Or maybe not cause then I'd already be done.

I don't think Dorian was that in love with her. I've always thought he left her go a bit too easily. I do hope that if Dorian gets another love interest in the series they spend some time as friends first. No flirting, a real companion.
It was explicitly stated in HoF that her human form is her animal form. I get why it seems a little weird. In her Fae form there are mentions of scents and mates and a lot of other animalistic tendencies.

I of course, will never give up on the Aelin and Dorian ship but another person I ship Dorian with is Yrene, or maybe Elide? I'll see when I read about her.

I of course, will never give up on the Aelin and Dorian ship but ano..."
Elide ? I don't know, maybe ?
Surprise surprise in QOS !
Besides, you have to read until the last pages to know what I'm talking about (This crazy theorie about Manon)

I of course, will never give up on the Aelin and Doria..."
Mirou, you're driving me crazy with these hints! I can't wait all the way to tomorrow!!

Ugh, I know, my book store is really crappy when it comes to just released books. I am suffering from togw (Throne of Glass withdrawal), and I need to read it now. Maybe I'll read the Assassin's Blade first because knowing my bookstore they won't have QoS for DAYS.

Haha you're totally right! I just did a reread and OMG my impression this time is way different! So weird how that happens (wtf was i thinking?). Still think it was sloppy though (like you can tell it was rewritten a billion times) but that's normal for a 1st book. I think she's gotten a lot better as a writer since the first book.
You guys don't have kindles or iPads? I remember when I used to go to bookstores to buy real books! Those were the days... I always used to ask for books before they came out just in case they had them early-- which they often did but it was embarrassing cause I'd come in like WAY too often and then they'd have to check their inventory (like manually in a back room). Lol I'd always pray they didn't remember me (which I'm sure they did because I wore shitloads of eyeliner and had like bright green hair). It was even worse when i started reading Kresley Cole cause when her books first came out OMG her covers were absolutely mortifying! Those covers were like THE reason I finally got a kindle....
Anyways, can't you order the book at B&N and have it delivered to the store within at least 2 days? Borders does that too, I think. That's what I used to do (on top of making them check their inventory).

I get ebooks 99% of the time, it's so hard to find physical copies in english in my country.
