Oh, same here!! I was so happy that Celaena got a nice girl around her own age to be her friend, someone who made fun of Dorian half as much as she did, and then when Celaena suspected her...I was crossing my fingers that she'd turn out to be wrong!

Some kind of diplomatic trip, if I recall. She didn't really go in-depth. I think she's spying on the enemy as well.

Hmm. Maybe. She seems to know a lot more about those runes than she lets on - especially the one that appeared on Celaena.

True, I wonder what her goal is. What will she gain by going into the lion's den?

She certainly was. I love the friendship between her and Celaena - it's one of the best YA friendship pairings, in my opinion. Both of them were so loyal to one another.

I'm reading Crown of Midnight right now and I just about died when I read (view spoiler) . I refuse to believe it!!!! Please tell me it's not true!!! She has to come back!!!

I read EOS and I understand although it breaks my heart to think of what she did....*sobs*

Died of shock and sorrow from Nehemia Ytger's death

The young girl sits by her friend's grave
She sings a mournful song
She tries to be brave
She knows why her friend died, why it had to be done
Her friend had sacrificed herself for the girl, not just anyone
"It's my fault," the girl thinks
"It's my fault she died. Because I was a coward and ignored her hopeless cries."
She had to take action
She had the gold and turquoise eyes
They marked her as a someone
With a title she could not bear
She had to help or else the world would succumb to the darkness that would rip apart and tear
"Do not let that light go out."
Her friend had spoken those words
But with her dark history behind her, the girl could not help but break
The light in her flickered and sputtered out
The deaths and betrayals of her loved ones left her in despair
And even as she trained
This world felt like a nightmare

Awful what Nehemia did. To "I'll make you do what I want by having myself killed" ?? FUBAR. It was for her people, but it was also a horrific act and betrayal to Celaena. Or at least that's just how I feel. Even so, I loved their friendship and Nehemia's character in the series. Not sure about the portal encounter with Celaena and Nehemia either--still pretty harsh even in death.
But anyway, lovely poem and great that you shared it. :) thank you!

I did like her very much but I feel I need to know her better. All we know about the real Nehemia, aside from all the politics and the grand scheme of things, is very little in my mind. I did cry when she died, but for Celaena.

** SPOILERS** I agree! I understand why she did what she did in crown of midnight and i admired how much she loved her people but it frustrated me how Celaena kind of accepted her betrayal. Sure she was a good princess but she was a terrible friend. She basically lied and manipulated Calaena who blamed everything on poor Chaol. Considering what Nehemia did to her, She was far too loyal after her death, but thats just my opinion. Have a great day :)
I really wish she didn't have to die!!
