Hahaha, that's exactly my theory !
EDIT : Though, I don't think she would be released in the book 4, I want a Dark Dorian/Aelin badass battle !

margelovegood (pearldg) | 6 comments Hi guys. I just want to ask a favor and can somebody please tell me the summarized version of what happened to Aelin and Dorian starting from book 3? Because i stopped reading the series since Dorian's storyline with Aelin was completely written off. i was one of the original readers of this story when it was only posted on Fictionpress and ughhh I can't handle that the author changed a lot between dorian and aelin. So pls to anyone who's rooting for aelin and dorian.... Is there hope? -cries-

Yes, there is definitely hope.
So, in the first book, they met, they started to hang out with each other but there wasn't any feelings involved but then Aelin decides to stop their relationship becauce she wanted to protect Dorian. Anyway, then there was Chaol, they stayed a lot together, and they kinda of broke up in the end of the second book. In the third book, Aelin was sent away where she met Rowan, a prince Fae. And by the end of this book, Rowan made a vow to never leave his queen (Meaning Aelin) alone. At the same time, Dorian had a relationship with a healer in the castle, but, she was beheaded in the end of the book. And now, the king controls his son through dark magic.

I don't know if you understood everything. But, right know, Dorian and Aelin are far from each other.

Katrina♡•• | 65 comments I was Team Celorian from the very beginning.Dorian is was and always will be my first pick for Celeana. In Queen of Shadows Celeana needs to save Dorian and this is what I think will bring them closer. They will have a better understanding of each other also considering that they also lost their loved one.Another reason for them being the perfect couple is that she is princess with fire and he is the prince to cool her down with his powers of ice. I see a lot of development will take place with Dorian's character in the next books because Heir of Fire did not really focus on him.Nevertheless I am strongly Team DORIAN!!!!!!

message 112: by Sierra (new)

Sierra Saikaley Agreed^^
I have shipped Celorian since the very beginning and will ship them until the very end. Not to say I don't like Choal I just don't like Choal with Aelien and I personally prefer Dorian just as a character cuz he's so funny and so sweet and it's so much fun to read about him and I just melt during all of his scenes even the bad ones. And I just love like the banter between Aelien and Dorian it's so cute. I think what will happen is that Aelien will save Dorian and there will be a lot of character development on both sides and they will like grow back together. I don't know it's so hard to make predictions about this book so we'll have to just wait and see.

What I was thinking is that when they will meet (After a badass fight) he will ask her to kill him because he is too dangerous and he coudn't stand hurting her but she woudn't do it because they are meant to rule together and maybe she will discover that he is his mate ? Okay, I'm dreaming too much

message 115: by Sierra (new)

Sierra Saikaley Mirou I totally agree with you. I think it will be like the king commands Dorian to kill Aelien but he won't be able to do it and that will kinda be how he gets rid of the collar and Aelien won't be able to hurt Dprian either cuz in HoF Rowan was talking about how you can't harm your mate and I think that her and Dorian are mates.(I hope so)

message 116: by Rafaela (new)

Rafaela Sousa | 29 comments I really love Dorian and Aelin together, but after reading a summary of the acotar party (http://acotarfans.tumblr.com/post/118...) where Sarah talked about the two series I was truly afraid of the future of my ship. I know that it's nothing concrete, but in the first draft a friend told me that they were endgame and when I read this in the summary "Ending of ToG won’t be like fiction press draft which Sarah considers to be “an entirely different book” of which “everything has been thrown out” , I was a bit terrified. I know that she has a point in saying this after all, this is as she says "an entirely different book" for many reasons and it would be anything but reasonable to say otherwise, after all we would already know how it ends. Yet this part of the summary still leaves me with a bitter taste in the mouth, anyone can help my poor heart and say I'm being too paranoid?

message 117: by priya (new)

priya (gpriyaa) I think Dorian will either be going to wendlyn or morath. Wendlyn because of a reattach since the last one failed and morath because that's where the king's seems to be sending important people that are in his control (Roland, manon, katlain...)

I'm leaning more toward wendlyn though. But i just need Dorian to be out of glass castle because he has been there in all 3 books, it's past time for him to leave there.

message 119: by Serena (new)

Serena | 160 comments I feel like there's going to be this moment when Dorian is ordered to kill Chaol (maybe in battle or maybe as a test to see if the collar works) and he's going to have this huge internal struggle against the dark power and eventually he'll break the collar's power over him and become allies with Aelin and fight against the King of Adarlan.

message 120: by Nicole (new)

Nicole Taylor | 53 comments Okay totally off topic but............ I gotta know!! Do we all agree that Dorian is NOT the son of the King of Adarlan?? Because in TOG it clearly states that Dorian does not look anything like his parents! PLUS!! He has raw magic....like, where the hell did that come from!?!? Any ideas on who his real parents might be???

Mirou | 186 comments Nicole wrote: "Okay totally off topic but............ I gotta know!! Do we all agree that Dorian is NOT the son of the King of Adarlan?? Because in TOG it clearly states that Dorian does not look anything like hi..."

There are some theories which say that the King is not really the King. He is a guy who took the place of the truly king, meaning Dorian's father, and by his magic, he make everyone accept him like he never change. Then, with the queen, they made, their "second" son

message 122: by Melanie (new)

Melanie | 24 comments Maybe Dorian is the reincarnation of Gavin and that is why Dorian has these blue eyes.

message 123: by Sierra (new)

Sierra Saikaley I think Dorian could be the Kings son but the Queen isn't his mother or something cause she doesn't give a shit what's going on with him. Now I could be wrong but I don't know

I am totally going with the theory that the King isn't Dorian's real father and that he somehow used magic to trick everyone into thinking he's really the king. He's Hollin's father however. The only reason Dorian was maybe spared from being killed by the King is bc he always suspected him to have raw magic that he wanted to use in some way. Perhaps he needs the 3rd wrydkey to use to extract that magic from Dorian and use it for himself. And then kill him off.

Jess S (mintchip) | 267 comments I think Dorians room has a secret passage way. In CoM when Dorian is sleeping and he wakes up cold…well it mentions a tapestry. Since theres a tapestry in Celaenas room and the Library and the both have secret passages…maybe Dorians room does too…Now the question is will they find it in QoS and how will it be used…as an escape route…I hope.

message 133: by Taylor (new)

Taylor | 154 comments Team Dorian. I don't think SJM is going to go back to their relationship any time sooner though :(
Okay, so first he loves a girl- a girl who is Adarlan's Assassin. At the end of ToG, she breaks his heart (even if the relationship wasn't really serious) then in Crown of Midnight *Spoiler Alert* He finds out his best friend is dating her. We still don't know if he knows that Chaol slept with Celaena (I doubt Chaol would tell him).
*Another Spoiler* Then in HoF he falls in love (again) with a girl called Sorcha: just as things start to finally look up- she gets beheaded. He is the most unluckiest person in the world. I feel so bad for him ;( he deserves happiness, he is one of the sweetest fictional guys I've ever read about. And yet all he gets is grief and his father is the most evil person in the whole of Adarlan. Not to mention he has to put up with that dickhead (excuse my French) Aedion.
Poor Dorian

message 134: by Stephanie (last edited Sep 10, 2015 10:07PM) (new)

Stephanie (sinmotion) | 234 comments I am totally disappointed with how with each new book since ToG, Dorian seems to get less and less page time. QoS is the worst one yet, and while that could be largely attributed to the fact that he'd had a valg prince taking up residence inside of him, and wasn't that compelling to read about, it feels I have enough cause to be afraid that he--and chaol for that matter-- have been replace with Aedion and Rowan going forward in the series. QoS felt like the Aelin/Rowan/Aedion show :-(

message 135: by priya (new)

priya (gpriyaa) Stephanie I 100% agree. Dorian had a reason (or well a sort of reason) for not having page time, but Chaol had no reason at all! There was barely an Chaol in QOS and I'm deeply disappointed by it, especially since we know Chaol worked behind the scenes and it wouldn't be that hard to show us those scenes.

QOS SPOILERS:

For example at one point Chaol asked Nesryn to go with him for a drink, and she said yes, but we never saw that scene. Also We know Chaol helped with Arobynn's death but it was never shown. Aedion and Chaol also went to test out the wildfire but that was never shown too.

I feel like Dorian's page time might increase because of how he's now newly King, but I can see Chaol's decreasing more since his plot is pretty much go to southern continent, get healed, and convince Southern leaders to ally with Adarlan and Terrasen.

All great points, Priya. It's like everyone has forgotten about Dorian and Chaol. And I was definitely missing Chaol's perspective on a lot of those key scene. Also, when he ran into the witches. She could have cut down on the Rowan and Aelin lust and pining scenes and added those POVs for Chaol if she'd run out of space to accommodate them. I didn't think we needed as many as we got. Maybe I only feel that way bc I'm no longer a Rowaelin shipper, since I felt is was utterly forced on me.

I have hope for it.

What do you guys think will become of him in the next two books? Any theories?

Is the question about whether or not he was the King's biological son going to be answered? Has it been answered?

message 139: by Lexie (new)

Lexie I sure hope Dorian and Chaol get more page time in the next books. Dorian better get more page time in the next book, that is the only way it'll make up for it. I understand that in QoS he might not be able to get as much page time because he was being controlled by a Valg prince, so he'd better get more time in the book.

... Oh my god I think I just got massively spoiled... THE KING DIES???????!!!!!!!
I really should take those warnings more seriously...

When the king is freed from whatever Valg inhabited him, he talks about how he built the towers BECAUSE Dorian was born. So I think Dorian is his biological son. And this is just a theory, but if The King was possesed when Dorian was conceived, do you think that could have caused Extra power within the bloodline to be given to him, thus making Dorian have raw and extremely strong power? Just a theory xD

Stephanie (sinmotion) | 234 comments Lydia wrote: "Stephanie wrote: "Mirou wrote: "Stephanie wrote: "I am totally disappointed with how with each new book since ToG, Dorian seems to get less and less page time. QoS is the worst one yet, and while..."

Hi Lydia,

I guess it's still so confusing for me to reconcile that he is bc of ToG that said he looked NOTHING like his parents. That has always stuck out to me. And Sarah never answers this question when asked, and she's usually pretty forward about shutting things down that too many people get caught up in. Like Sam not really being dead for example. He is dead.

Anyway, about the Dorian's power. I believe Dorian's power comes from his lineage, Gavin. Just like Aelin is fae but some of her family members in the fae line were not. I'd say it has more to do with fate more, but for a tangible answer I do not think Erawan putting a Valg inside the king had any bearing on Dorian's magic.
For one, Erawan and the valgs are evil. Dorian's magic, like the wyrdkeys, are raw magic; neither good nor evil, but able to be wielded by whomever is in possession of it to at and to their will.

message 142: by Lydia (new)

Lydia (greciandaisy) | 174 comments Hmmm IDK...We didn't get to see The Queen or Hollin in this book really, so maybe the Queen has some secret about Dorian that she is hiding. But if Dorian had another father then he would not be directly related to Gavin so it's a little confusing. Unless the Queen is related to that bloodline but that's never been talked about.

message 143: by Taylor (new)

Taylor | 154 comments The Queen and Hollin were only mentioned once in QoS, something about the Queen taking her court somewhere, I forget. But how will the queen fare out once she heard that (view spoiler)

message 144: by Grace Meredith (new)

Grace Meredith (koreantrash) Guys, have you seen Christine from PolandBananasBOOKS booktalk about QoS? She has all sorts of theories about Hollin and the Queen, you should go check it out. And follow her, she's so funny. :)

Personally, I think the queen may have magic. I mean, she's always been such a quiet and mysterious character. And once Dorian shows his, I hope she'll open up to him and they can learn and work together.

Hollin may just be a brat. He's only 10-11 years old.

message 145: by Lydia (new)

Lydia (greciandaisy) | 174 comments I have been DYING to hear what Christine has to say! Her booktalk isn't up yet though..? I think she's uploading it tomorrow/Monday. Tash (littletee) | 21 comments So I felt like saying a few positive things here about Dorian.

First 1.5 books, honestly, I didn't care that much about Dorian...

But then the last two books came and altho he had sooooo little character development, I started thinking - his magic was there when even Aelin/Celaena couldn't access hers - who's badass now? I srsly hope Maas finally realises what she created there and that he should actually be the most powerful of them - he needs to own it now! I am ready to shift my attention to Dorian!

Don't get me wrong, I like Celaena/Aelin, and after HoF, she was really maturing, but in QoS... meh... She is written perfectly for her age, but I am getting tired of her teenager attitude a bit and hope she grows up more in the next books, so I can love her again.

+ I love that a human has the most unique magical power - take that Fae!
