Prince Dorian DeHavilliard ~ Character Discussion

Hahaha, that's exactly my theory !
EDIT : Though, I don't think she would be released in the book 4, I want a Dark Dorian/Aelin badass battle !

Read the first one. It's heartbreaking.

I cried when I saw that picture of a twisted Dorian and when I read the first chapter. Oh poor Dorian!

He don't even remember his name !

Yes, there is definitely hope.
So, in the first book, they met, they started to hang out with each other but there wasn't any feelings involved but then Aelin decides to stop their relationship becauce she wanted to protect Dorian. Anyway, then there was Chaol, they stayed a lot together, and they kinda of broke up in the end of the second book. In the third book, Aelin was sent away where she met Rowan, a prince Fae. And by the end of this book, Rowan made a vow to never leave his queen (Meaning Aelin) alone. At the same time, Dorian had a relationship with a healer in the castle, but, she was beheaded in the end of the book. And now, the king controls his son through dark magic.
I don't know if you understood everything. But, right know, Dorian and Aelin are far from each other.

I have shipped Celorian since the very beginning and will ship them until the very end. Not to say I don't like Choal I just don't like Choal with Aelien and I personally prefer Dorian just as a character cuz he's so funny and so sweet and it's so much fun to read about him and I just melt during all of his scenes even the bad ones. And I just love like the banter between Aelien and Dorian it's so cute. I think what will happen is that Aelien will save Dorian and there will be a lot of character development on both sides and they will like grow back together. I don't know it's so hard to make predictions about this book so we'll have to just wait and see.

I really like characters with that description like William Herondale

What I was thinking is that when they will meet (After a badass fight) he will ask her to kill him because he is too dangerous and he coudn't stand hurting her but she woudn't do it because they are meant to rule together and maybe she will discover that he is his mate ? Okay, I'm dreaming too much

I'm leaning more toward wendlyn though. But i just need Dorian to be out of glass castle because he has been there in all 3 books, it's past time for him to leave there.

I'd love to see him down in Morath with his evil cousin

There are some theories which say that the King is not really the King. He is a guy who took the place of the truly king, meaning Dorian's father, and by his magic, he make everyone accept him like he never change. Then, with the queen, they made, their "second" son

Omg I felt so sorry for him:(

I am totally going with the theory that the King isn't Dorian's real father and that he somehow used magic to trick everyone into thinking he's really the king. He's Hollin's father however. The only reason Dorian was maybe spared from being killed by the King is bc he always suspected him to have raw magic that he wanted to use in some way. Perhaps he needs the 3rd wrydkey to use to extract that magic from Dorian and use it for himself. And then kill him off.

Me:*wraps my arms around and curls protectively around Dorian*
Me:*snarls* mine
King of Adarlan:Haha he's now evil Valg Dorian
Me:*holds sword to King of Adarlan's throat* Say that again
King of Adarlan:*sweats*
Me:That's right. He's my precious little cinnamon roll. I will protect him
Anyone else feel this way.

Okay, so first he loves a girl- a girl who is Adarlan's Assassin. At the end of ToG, she breaks his heart (even if the relationship wasn't really serious) then in Crown of Midnight *Spoiler Alert* He finds out his best friend is dating her. We still don't know if he knows that Chaol slept with Celaena (I doubt Chaol would tell him).
*Another Spoiler* Then in HoF he falls in love (again) with a girl called Sorcha: just as things start to finally look up- she gets beheaded. He is the most unluckiest person in the world. I feel so bad for him ;( he deserves happiness, he is one of the sweetest fictional guys I've ever read about. And yet all he gets is grief and his father is the most evil person in the whole of Adarlan. Not to mention he has to put up with that dickhead (excuse my French) Aedion.
Poor Dorian

QOS SPOILERS:
For example at one point Chaol asked Nesryn to go with him for a drink, and she said yes, but we never saw that scene. Also We know Chaol helped with Arobynn's death but it was never shown. Aedion and Chaol also went to test out the wildfire but that was never shown too.
I feel like Dorian's page time might increase because of how he's now newly King, but I can see Chaol's decreasing more since his plot is pretty much go to southern continent, get healed, and convince Southern leaders to ally with Adarlan and Terrasen.

I think he will get a lot of chapters in the next book because of what he became at the end of the book ;)

All great points, Priya. It's like everyone has forgotten about Dorian and Chaol. And I was definitely missing Chaol's perspective on a lot of those key scene. Also, when he ran into the witches. She could have cut down on the Rowan and Aelin lust and pining scenes and added those POVs for Chaol if she'd run out of space to accommodate them. I didn't think we needed as many as we got. Maybe I only feel that way bc I'm no longer a Rowaelin shipper, since I felt is was utterly forced on me.

I have hope for it.
What do you guys think will become of him in the next two books? Any theories?
Is the question about whether or not he was the King's biological son going to be answered? Has it been answered?

... Oh my god I think I just got massively spoiled... THE KING DIES???????!!!!!!!
I really should take those warnings more seriously...

When the king is freed from whatever Valg inhabited him, he talks about how he built the towers BECAUSE Dorian was born. So I think Dorian is his biological son. And this is just a theory, but if The King was possesed when Dorian was conceived, do you think that could have caused Extra power within the bloodline to be given to him, thus making Dorian have raw and extremely strong power? Just a theory xD

Hi Lydia,
I guess it's still so confusing for me to reconcile that he is bc of ToG that said he looked NOTHING like his parents. That has always stuck out to me. And Sarah never answers this question when asked, and she's usually pretty forward about shutting things down that too many people get caught up in. Like Sam not really being dead for example. He is dead.
Anyway, about the Dorian's power. I believe Dorian's power comes from his lineage, Gavin. Just like Aelin is fae but some of her family members in the fae line were not. I'd say it has more to do with fate more, but for a tangible answer I do not think Erawan putting a Valg inside the king had any bearing on Dorian's magic.
For one, Erawan and the valgs are evil. Dorian's magic, like the wyrdkeys, are raw magic; neither good nor evil, but able to be wielded by whomever is in possession of it to at and to their will.

Personally, I think the queen may have magic. I mean, she's always been such a quiet and mysterious character. And once Dorian shows his, I hope she'll open up to him and they can learn and work together.
Hollin may just be a brat. He's only 10-11 years old.

Can someone share the link ? Can't find it

First 1.5 books, honestly, I didn't care that much about Dorian...
But then the last two books came and altho he had sooooo little character development, I started thinking - his magic was there when even Aelin/Celaena couldn't access hers - who's badass now? I srsly hope Maas finally realises what she created there and that he should actually be the most powerful of them - he needs to own it now! I am ready to shift my attention to Dorian!
Don't get me wrong, I like Celaena/Aelin, and after HoF, she was really maturing, but in QoS... meh... She is written perfectly for her age, but I am getting tired of her teenager attitude a bit and hope she grows up more in the next books, so I can love her again.
+ I love that a human has the most unique magical power - take that Fae!
you are my Nehemia... <3 <3 <3 this is like you telling me "DO NOT let that light go out"...
i promise i won't! and i would ship Dorian and Aelin since the first time i touched the book until i have read the last word in the final installment... :) i believe!!
