evie (ecie) | 4437 comments I get the shot every year . The firm I work for provides the service.
Mr evie and my daughter both get their shot from our family GP.

evie (ecie) | 4437 comments Is that what is being administered to the child in post 2?

evie (ecie) | 4437 comments Looking at that picture, it doesn't appear to be less scary for the child than the needle version.

I'm revisiting the trauma I experienced as a parent, during my child's early vaccination experience.

message 4: by Susan (new)

Susan | 6406 comments I hate it when little gets his vaccinations. I act brave and don't get upset so as not to upset him further but later, when he can't see, I let it out. It does not matter if it is a shot or up the nose, it freaks him out and he turns red and cries. Awful. He has some coming up in a week. :(

I hate it when the pups have to get shots, too. It may be worse because I can never explain to them why it happens, though I try anyways. :(

Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments As a hospice volunteer, I am required to get a flu shot every year. I got mine in October.

message 6: by Susan (new)

Susan | 6406 comments I have never had an employer offer them onsite or free. I would think this would persuade more people to get them if it were a standard occurrence.

message 7: by Riona (new)

Riona (rionafaith) | 488 comments I get one sometimes. This year, no.

message 8: by evie (new)

evie (ecie) | 4437 comments Poor kid. No wonder he looks so upset. He feels really sick.

janine | 7709 comments I have had that. The cheapest potato vodka I could find.Tastes like cleaning products.

message 12: by Susan (new)

Susan | 6406 comments That is what you get for getting the cheapest potato vodka you could find.

message 13: by janine (new)

janine | 7709 comments I didn't buy it for drinking, but to make newspaper nail art and decided I didn't want to waste what was left.

message 14: by Susan (new)

Susan | 6406 comments It has been some time since I have wanted vodka but the last I had was a pomegranate vodka. It was very good and not to be used for making nail art.

It seems as though you mentioned your nail art before. Are there any pictures?

message 15: by janine (new)

janine | 7709 comments Jammies is our resident nail art specialist. I'm just an amateur.

message 16: by Susan (new)

Susan | 6406 comments Were you using the vodka for the newspaper transfer to your nails?

I think I was picturing something else for a minute there.

message 17: by Heidi (new)

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10825 comments I did not get the flu shot. I cannot get it and have been unable to get it since discovering about 15 years ago that I'm allergic to it. I also cannot get the MMR. With that said, I've not had the flu since the last time I got the inoculation.

Yes.

message 19: by Phil (new)

Phil | 11837 comments One of my carpool kids told me yesterday that his family don't get ANY vaccinations.

message 20: by Susan (new)

Susan | 6406 comments How do kids without vaccinations get into school?

I thought it was a prerequisite.

message 21: by Phil (new)

Phil | 11837 comments In Utah parents just sign a form that says, "I object" and they're in.

message 22: by Susan (new)

Susan | 6406 comments This Utah you speak of, where exactly is it.

;)

Hidden in the deep south of the 1830s.

message 24: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) It's that area between the mountain ranges.

Phil | 11837 comments The Land that Time Forgot.

Phil wrote: "The Land that Time Forgot."

Wasn't that a movie?

message 28: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) I forget.

message 29: by Susan (new)

Susan | 6406 comments I think there was a baby dinosaur in it.

Not even as a kid? Does your nation have some type of public health flu campaign? Are people encouraged to get the shot and you have just decided not to?"

No, I don't think I ever had one. The elderly and other risk groups get them though. I know my father gets them.

message 32: by janine (new)

janine | 7709 comments I just looked it up. The flu shot is offered to children (I may have gotten one when I was little,I just don't remember it), people over 60, and medical risk groups.

evie (ecie) | 4437 comments Susan wrote: "I think there was a baby dinosaur in it."

You're right.

message 34: by Phil (new)

Phil | 11837 comments That one had real actors and regular dinosaurs. You may have it confusticated with "The Land Before Time," featuring animated the dinosaur Littlefoot and his friends, Petrie and Spike.

message 35: by Susan (last edited Jan 17, 2013 08:24AM) (new)

Susan | 6406 comments Petrie!

I think I might have made a remake in my head of the combination of The Land Before Time and Baby : Secret of the Lost Legend.

Ah, that's the one .

message 37: by Susan (new)

Susan | 6406 comments Look who is still talking about it. On a new page, even!

message 38: by Phil (new)

Phil | 11837 comments I liked Jurassic Park. The sequels were horrid, but the original was fun. I like when the t-rex ate the guy in the outhouse.

message 39: by Susan (new)

Susan | 6406 comments That scene and when the water in the glass starts to move from the dinosaur footsteps are the most memorable to me from that movie.

message 40: by Susan (new)

Susan | 6406 comments So little received his flu booster shot today. He cried but only for a second which I expected. He then told the nurse thank you which I very much did not expect.

message 41: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Well trained, that boy.

message 42: by Susan (new)

Susan | 6406 comments :)
He says thank you without prompt and at the right time. It is the sweetest little voice, too. He even tells me thank you for changing his diaper.
His doctor said she thought he was quite bright. Here is my moment to glow a bit in my parenting.

message 45: by Susan (new)

Susan | 6406 comments How about this, he told me earlier today that he needed his Deedah. He then said please!

message 46: by Phil (new)

Phil | 11837 comments Grandpa never said "thank you" when people changed his diaper.

message 47: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Ew.
