Go to it, Bryce! You'll do fine, and you'll be back before you know it. The bar exam is an ordeal, but you'll be ever so glad when it is over. Best wishes, and we'll see you on the trail. Cheers! Chris

Perhaps you could start reading Malazan to the twins at night?
Hmmmm maybe not.

So uh... my brother introduced me to Kinect Adventure since we got here. My sister talked me into "let's exercise together and jog in Richmond Park" et c during our visit and I even brought stuff to make the most of it. First thought upon trying the Kinect games was: we won't need to jog in Richmond Park.

It's such a great game!

I don't see anything about reading in that story. For shame!

If I'm honest, I've never tried the kinect. I have an Xbox, but it has a layer of dust on. Plus the kinect doesn't appeal to me as a gaming device. Seems like it would be good for exercise programs like the one you mentioned though.

I played ADVENTURE last night, first time using the Kinect. I feel like I have had a work out, in various muscle groups. I can see how people use it to lose weight. I might by a fitness game and try it.

Aildiin | 39 comments I've read more comics since the Malazan re-read started than in the previous 20 years of my life (It all started with digital comics, then me and my wife wandering in a comics store and 2 weeks later the house is full of Conan, Fables and Saga graphic novels..).
Latest one I read was Kick Ass. (which bears its name well) and Watchmen is going to arrive in my mail box sometime this week ( I know I have a lot of catching up to do, the thing is I am french and moved to the US 12 years ago and I had ever only read a few marvel and that was it for english comics)...

Juniper (juniperx) | 237 comments @ Rob

You didn't? You have to, it's great fun!
I haven't tried it beyond that though (or the Xbox).

@ Lee

Same here. It's a fine work out, hehe. I haven't tried any fitness games on it, just Sports/Adventure, but I'm sure they're good!

@ Aildiin

I don't read comics, but Kick Ass made a fine movie!

I've been gaming a long time. I have an old school NES, from back when it wasn't old school. To me video games need a controller. Or a keyboard and mouse. Making my body the controller just seems wrong some how.

But it seems like a cool idea for a workout. But a workout is not a video game.

message 115: by Aildiin (new)

Aildiin | 39 comments I game a lot too (on a PS3 mind you) and I feel like you.

It just came in today !
My wife got me a used like new copy for 6$ on Amazon.. I would have prefered a brand new copy but I ain't going to complain ( after looking at it I would have graded it fine or very fine not like new, but still it is in good shape.. Still 6$ for some of the best 400 pages of comics ever published is a pretty good deal...

Chaz | 297 comments A very good deal, enjoy.

Lori I'm having a very hard time getting into other books to read, I think I'm going to have to read masterpieces the next year. I don't game, I don't read comics, I don't watch much TV, what's a girl to do?!? I'm thinking of Infinite Jest or Brothers Karamazov. I read the latter when I was 20 but skipped around a lot, so I know what happens but I've been meaning to read it again. But not only do I need a great great book, it can't be too hard - Malazan is taking up lots of reading brain power.

message 120: by Juniper (new)

Juniper (juniperx) | 237 comments When I'm in need of great books I turn to classics or books that have been considered for Man Booker and the likes of it. There are many great books out there, and the easiest way to find them to turn to reliable sources.

Personally, I'm starting to miss contemporary books. I've read so much fantasy and sci-fi lately I need to venture into other genres again.

message 121: by Lori (new)

Lori Kat - Yes I need a break from sf and fantasy!

message 122: by Chaz (new)

Chaz | 297 comments Karamazov is no Crime & Punishment. There is some really great stuff in Karamazov but you'll be 400 pages in and still be asking yourself "Has anything actually happened yet?". There's a lot of characters walking into rooms where debates are going on about obscure matters of church law vs. natural law which will go on for 8 pages. Interesting stuff but hard work. Crime & Punishment is a bodice ripper in comparison.

That said, part of the reason I had a less successful reading experience with TBK could well be because I was reading it in short bursts when I was still commuting and transferring between buses and tubes three times in a 45min journey which probably wasn't conducive. It took me about three months of that to finish it.

message 123: by Lori (new)

Lori That's the same experience I had with TBK! I found Ivan tedious. Maybe I'll go with The Idiot which is some people's favorite. All I know is I need some Literature with the capital l.

Ha, incompetent bastard, he thinks that we don't notice his errors, but oh yes we spot them, especially the one with OCD, the warden, he sees all, but we know better, we should perhaps make some gesture that allows him to think we are of an understanding nature, yes, that would fool the fool

Innocent Kruppe is always amazed by his extravagant tolerance of unjust accusations and misguided malignings. Ooohhh, Kruppe has just noticed many delete buttons available in this warren for his discretionary use of...discretion

A hasty retreat before the fat man is now required, but the fool will probably think I am retiring to contemplate his ignorant mutterings, perhaps some final words of wisdom will suffice in keeping him away from my mule. Yes, that will no doubt work. "Play with said buttons oh lover of pastry and learn from your mistakes at resisting the will of the appointed Priest of ShadowThrone."

I dislike Ben Stiller too much to probably like this movie.

It does at least look like he's not playing his Ben Stiller character that comes in 2 varieties: evil and "lovable" idiot.

Then again, maybe it's just an extension of his lovable idiot. I'm probably too biased to give it a real chance. Maybe I'll rent it if I hear really good things.

message 137: by Lori (new)

Lori Someone else who dislikes him!

Gossip has it that he's a real self-entitled schmuck. Slaps his wife around too. Shame, cause his dad is so good.
