Siobhan ... so I readily accept the premise of these books. The nine (or ten) Loric warriors growing up to save both earth and Lorien. But there is one thing, that's mentioned throughout the books that I think (unless I have my timelines wrong) completely disregards its own canon.

I mean that all the Loric are protected by a charm until they unite. In the first book, Six tells Four the charm no longer works because she found him, and they work together to beat the Mogs.

But in the Power of Six, when Four finds Nine in the same place that Six was kept ... Doesn't that mean the charm was already void? Sure Six and Nine didn't see each other, but they were in close proximity at the same time, right? Shouldn't the charm have broken faster? Or did I miss something?

Esme maybe they have to touch or acknowledge each other

Mojoboy31 Six, and Nine were not there at the same time, or at least not near enough to break the charm.

Athalvard Actually, the charm isn't necessarily that confusing. It is possible that in order for it to break the members of the Garde actually have to meet each other face to face, but the book actually never addresses those details.

The reason the charm didn't break earlier than when Six and Four met is that Six and Nine were never in the Mogadorians' lair together.

Six explains her history, starting on page 37 (start of chapter four):
" "I was thirteen when they caught up to us," Six says when we cross into Tennessee... "We were in West Texas after fleeing Mexico because of a stupid mistake. We had both been completely entranced by some stupid internet post that Two had written, though we didn't know it was by Two at the time, and we responded." "

Then later, on page 88 (start of chapter eight), Six continues her story:
"...Six tells us about her and Katarina being captured while they were in upstate New York, just a month after narrowly escaping the Mogadorians in West Texas.... When Six woke up--having no idea how much time had passed--she was alone in a cell in a hollowed-out mountain."

While Six could have been unconscious for a while, it couldn't have been much more than a few hours, or maybe a day or two at most, or else she would start becoming dehydrated and needed to go on an IV until she woke up. So, we know that Six is at least thirteen years and one month old.

Next, on page 95, they continue the same story:
" "How long were you in there?" I ask.
"One hundred and eighty-five days. I think."
My mouth drops open. Over half a year locked away, completely and utterly alone, waiting to be killed. "I'm so sorry, Six." "

At this point, we have enough information that when Six escaped from the Mogadorian's lair, she would have AT MOST been 14 and a half years old. The only way for her to even be that old is if she was about a month away from her 14th birthday when she and Katarina met the Mogadorians in West Texas; it is more likely that she was either almost fourteen or had recently turned fourteen when she escaped. It was mentioned in the first book that Six is now 16, so she has been out and living on her own for at least a year and a half, probably more.

Next, on to Nine, on page 377:
"I'm investigating the cells on the right when a boy my age with long black hair sticks his head under a door. When he sees me, he puts a hand cautiously into the corridor.
"The force field is really gone?" he shouts.
"I think so!" I yell.
..."Shut up and stand back, kid," I hear the boy say.... The boy grips the bottom of the door and rips it form the wall, tossing it into the corridor like a Frisbee."

A paragraph later, Four notices Nine's scars and they introduce themselves.

Finally, in a conversation between Four and Nine on page 382:
" "Are you crazy?" I ask. "You're enjoying this?"
"I've been locked up for over a year. This is the best day of my life!"

Four has been stated as being sixteen years old. Nine is said to be a similar age, so we can assume he is at least sixteen as well. He has been locked up for a little more than a year, so he was around fifteen when he was imprisoned.

Six has been free since she was at most fourteen and a half, and Nine had been imprisoned since he was about fifteen. Therefore, there was a gap of between six months and a year between when Six and Nine were at being held by the Mogadorians. Since they were never there at the same time, the charm didn't break until Four was helped by Six in the first book.

Jordan I think they might need to realize that they are there. Like, Nine would have had to see Six and she would have had to see him, maybe? I don't know, I didn't really notice that.

Six got out of the mountain 3 years before She met four, and Nine was captured 1 year before four got him out
