18. He did not drift but strode with pathological neutrality away from the cities' centres...
19. We [Corwi and Borlu] "met each other's gaze a moment...It was really dawn at last.
20. He showed the thing to me, a moment, befoe gripping and aiming it again. It was some verdigrised metal object, age-gnarled and ugly. It was clicking. It was patched with new metal bands. "It broke. When I..." "Jesus, that's what you hit her with. When you realised she knew it was lies."
21. "I always told the truth. You heard me, Inspector. I told you many times. There's no such place as Orciny."
22. "...no one in this place, and that includes Breach, obeys the rules."
23. [Sear and Core] could have hired someone to smuggle more efficiently.

26. "When I called him Buric wasn't happy sending a driver, but he understood...We couldn't let Breach notice us." "But your maps are out of date." "When did they build that skate park?"

28. "Which city are you in?" "Either." So I grabbed him by the scruff, turned him, marched him away. I dragged Breach with me, enveloped him in it, pulled him out of either town into neither, into the Breach.
Did anyone else feel the quantity of explanation and exposition in this section was rather heavy-handed and rushed? (It put me in mind of a James Bond baddie, explaining his plans to Bond - i.e. the audience - just before he (tries to) kill him.)
