Louis Klugh When I discovered Arthur Conan Doyles' series about the great master detective in my early teens, I couldn't put any of the stories down. I thought this was one of life's great revelations, that if you were simply observant enough you could make earth shattering discoveries sufficient to confound the most jaded skeptic. Then, I discovered Sherlock was a drug user, a game stopper back then.

Now that Bill Maher and the others has reassured me that drugs are alright, I think I'll go back have another look at Mr Holmes and then read this book, as I still am fascinated by the idea, which I now realize may be true in theory but much more difficult in actual practice. Sometimes it's nice to go back and see through the naive eyes of youth and feel that surge of optimism.
