Stephen (havan) | 548 comments I'm reading a gay short story collection This Universe of Men and in it there's a story where a spaceship's "sex drive" has failed and the crew are "24.5983 AU" from the sun.

"The little ship was further outside the solar system than any manned ship had gone before"

Of course when the book was written in 1992, the Solar System was considered to include Pluto which has an aphelion of 48.871 AU which meant that this passage was in error.

Now that Pluto's been dropped from the club of planets, this text is correct. Uranus has an aphelion of of 20.083 AU

If you understand WHY this post is funny you really do qualify for either a rainbow pocket protector or a lavender slide rule.
