Judith | 14 comments It's not a cozy, but I'm currently reading Dennis Lehane's GONE BABY GONE. His novels are very dark, but there's humor woven into the story, and the writing is compelling. And it's set, like most if not all Lehane books, in Boston--just down the road from me.

Judith | 14 comments Just finished Dennis Lehane's Gone, Baby, Gone. Like all his books, it's wonderful but wrenching, beautifully written but depressing. He's an amazing writer, but I can read him only now and then, or he'd destroy my innate sense of optimism.Gone, Baby, Gone

Christina | 247 comments Candace-This is the second in the series. I did like the first one. The main character is a police officer and her cousin is the chief. She is the only female on the force so you can imagine how the guys feel about that.

message 234: by Susan (new)

Susan Brown I have just finished my first Kate Collins book - Mum's The Word - and immediately ordered the next in the series from my library. I am so glad I discovered this group, it has increased my "to read" shelf astronomically!

Out of books! How can that be? I've got at least 100 sitting on my shelves waiting to be read and taunting me....

@ Tracy , library is closed and all the books.I have I read.

Janice | 1 comments @Candace That can't be good to be out of books. I would be suffering book withdrawal symptoms.

Tracy Weber (tracywe) | 38 comments Candace wrote: "@ Tracy , library is closed and all the books.I have I read."

Bummer. That would be a good reason to have a Kindle. Instant gratification. That said, I only read paper copies. ;-)

Tracy Weber (tracywe) | 38 comments Candace wrote: "I only read.paper copies as well!"

I just can't get into the "Read on an electronic device" bandwagon. It's not good for me as an author, I'm sure. Just count me old school. I spend to much time in front of electronic devices as it is. ;-)

message 243: by Judith (new)

Judith | 14 comments I resisted getting an e-reader as long as possible. And I admit there are certain aspects of paper books I prefer. But with my Kindle, I am never without a book to read! Besides my mountainous TBR pile of paper books, I've got several hundred books loaded onto my Kindle. As a book addict, I take comfort in knowing I've always got a good supply of my drug of choice.

Susan Brown Judith wrote: "I resisted getting an e-reader as long as possible. And I admit there are certain aspects of paper books I prefer. But with my Kindle, I am never without a book to read! Besides my mountainous TBR ..."

I, too, like the hard copy best. In fact I have never been able to get into a book that I have downloaded onto my Amazon Kindle. But now I am going to have to make the leap as Kindle was the only way I could get hold of Judith's "Father Found". Judith, I take your point about having a good supply of books on hand; I spend a lot of time in hospital waiting rooms and to be able to have several books to swap between (on an electronic device) beats carrying several heavy hard copies around. I have enough stuff to carry with me to hospital appointments!

message 245: by Judith (new)

Judith | 14 comments My Kindle is also great on vacations. In years past, we used to bring one suitcase full of nothing but books for our annual week at the beach. Now my husband (who has a Kindle Fire but reads only paper books) packs his books and I pack my Kindle. I don't have to figure out in advance what I want to read that week, and I don't have to lug an extra suitcase.
